The dinner, cafeteria style, was served from a table arrang ed with autumn leaves. Decorat ed cakes honored Mrs. Bertha Sanders and Mrs. Bettle Abeene for their wedding anniversaries. Attending were Carol Skaggs, Donna Hall, Edna Mae Carter, Barbara Woollett, Vonda' Priest, Marian Carter, Janice Parks, Barbara Lowe, Katy Kennedy, Jackie Kennedy, Linda Marie Whitford, Mrs. Abeene and Mrs. Whltford. The same evening Mr. Whlt ford and several boys held a slumber party at the parsonage in Sutherlin. They left the next morning for Portland to attend the Oregon Washington football game. Enjoying the trip were Ivan Denney, Fred Kroush, Andre Hall, Dennis Parks, Milo Pope, Ronald Woollett and Bruce Pope. YONCALLA SADDLE CLUB ENJOYS 80CIAL NIGHT The Yoncalla Saddle club en joyed pictures shewn by Jake Powell of the Yoncalla Rodeos for the past two years at a meet ing held in the city hall Friday, Nov. 4, Mrs. Annie Kruse told of the three-day celebration to be held in July of the coming year sponsored by the Civic club and the Yoncalla community. University , of Oregon Mothers club will meet Monday night at a seven-thirty o'clock no hostess dessert-supper at the Ho tel Umpqua private dining room, Instead of at the home of Mrs. Hedwig Watzig as previously planned. All members are asked to attend and are requested to bring a new member. Persons eligible to membership and who have not been contacted are also invited. GROUP AT JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL.' The Home Economics girls of the Roseburg junior high scpool have organized the F. H. A., known as Future Homemakers of America. Officers are Dalice Hicks, president; Buelah Sut ton, vice president; Phyllis Wil son, secretary; Mollie Fullerton, treasurer; Shirley Wilkenson, re porter and Virginia Cyrus, song leader. Mis. Russell, home mak ing teacher is the advisor and Mrs. Fullerton and Mrs. M. D. Cyrus are chapter mothers. The association has had sever al meetings, initiation and spon sored an ice cream sale. One of the purposes of the group is In ternational goodwill. They plan to adopt a foreign home econo mics class in France and send letters and packages. Another purpose is to further interest in home economics and they will sponsor the F. H. A. scholarship fund to Oregon State College. They plan a local pro ject also. Meetings are Tuesday at noon. YONCALLA W.S.C.S. MEETING HELD AT . BOUCOCK HOME Mrs. Jack Boucock, with Mrs. Charlie Kirklie as co-hostess, en tertained the members of the Yoncalla Methodist church, W. S.C.S. at the home of the latter Thursday afternoon. The living room was arranged with bou quets of late fall flowers. Mrs. Luther Daugherty had charge of devotions, using "Thanksgiving" as the theme. During the business meeting the group voted to donate ten dollars to the McClurry family, who recently lost their posses sions when their home burned. Mrs. Jean Cowan gave an in teresting talk on Japan using ar ticles sent her from Japan by Mrs. Gale Hufford Drlies. Mrs. Drlics taught home economics In the Yoncalla High school in 19-39-40. Mrs. Charlie Kirklie clos ed the missionary part of the program with some remarks on Japan. Refreshments were served to Mrs. W. J. Ladd, Mrs. Cabiness, Mrs. J. N. Sparks, Mrs. Currier, Mm. MELROSE HOME ECONOMICS CLUB ELECT CHAIRMAN Mrs. Nettle Woodruff was elec ed club chairman of Melrose Home Economics club at a meet ing held Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ollle Krue ger. Mrs. Myrtle Wilson acted as co-hostess. The vice chairman, secretary and club committee will be elect ed at the next meeting tn ho held Dec. 13 at the home of Mrs. Patricia Doerner with Mrs. Mar tie Cring as co-hostess. Mrs. Beckie Chltwood was secretary pro-tem -in the absence of Mrs. Alma Grear. Final plans were made for a tamale supper to be held at the Melrose grange Saturday even ing, Nov. 19.
