Male Quartet To Be Featured At Church Service The appearance of a male quartet at the Roseburg Metho dist church evening worship serv ice, Sunday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m., was announced by the pastor, W. A. MacArthur. As part of the "Advance for Christ and His Church" program of Methodism, each Sunday ave ning a service is held around the theme, "Our Faith In God." A portion of this program is music, both congregational singing and special numbers. The male quartet which has been formed for the occasion in cludes Ralph Church, iirst tenor; R, Cloyd Riffe, second tenor; V. A. MacArthur, baritone, ard Floyd Powell, bass. A group of three numbers will be sung dur ing the service. "The Lost Chord" by Sullivan-Brewer, ard two hymns, "Sometime, Some where" and "I Want My Life To Tell." The quartet will be ac companied by Mrs. Myrtle Burr at the piano. The above picture was taken by Master Photo stu dio. Rev. Mr. MacArthur will con tinue his series of short, chalk illustrated addresses on the busi nessmen of the Bible as he speaks about the "Man Who Made A Corner in Warehouses." The talks are illustrated by Mr. MacArthur with full-color chalk drawings made before the con gregation. The public is cordially invited to attend and participate in this great spiritual advance. Dillard Initiation Slated By.-. Roseburg Moose Lodge Moose lodge 1037 of Roseburg wilL hold an initiation Sunday, Nov. 20, at the lodge hall, 321 1-2 So. Stephens, at 2 p.m. A special program is in store for those who attend. Deputy Su preme Governor Al Nyback is making a special trip here from Klamath Falls to be guest and principal speaker for this occa sion. Roseburg lodge governor Jerry Willis stated he expects this class to be the second largest ever ini tiated in the local lodge. The largest previously was just short of 100 candidates. All prospective members who have been signed up are urged to be present. Members' wives are invited to meet at the hall at 5 p.m., when refreshments will be served and a dance will be held. A large group of Dillard people attended the penny supper at the Tenmlle Community club and la ter enjoyed a variety of interest ing motion pictures. Those mak ing the trip were: Mr. and Mrs. Abner Rice, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Peterson, Mr, and Mrs. Jim Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Sie gel, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rice, Rev. and Mrs. Walter W. Appleyard, Mrs. Myrtle Burtch, Mrs. Belle Clark, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Barnes and daughters, Carol Sue and Judy, and Mr. and Mrs. Byron McKean. The eighth grade Girls glee club held their weekly meeting at the school club room, Fri day, at which time they elect ed the following officers: Pres ident, Betty Deveralx; secre tary, Millisa Stonbraker; treas urer, Arline Pully; publicity, Ina Lee Helnbach, Sergeant-at-arms, Sonnle Tedrick. The girls practice singing every day and are accompanied on the piano by Ina Ferro. Plans were made for a pop corn ball sale at the school club room on Friday, Nov. 18. A Christmas party was also planned to be held at the home of Patsy Callahan on Deo. 16, at seven o'olock. Their next regular meeting will be held at the school club rooms on Fri day, Nov. 18, at 3:30 o'clock in the afternoon. The public is invited to attend the Dillard church Sunday eve ning at 7:30, when Sid Fredrick son will show some motion pic tures and demonstrate the ma chine the church is trying to buy. Mr. and Mrs. Glen R. Shockly spent Sunday in springtieid look ing after business interests. Annual Class Party Will Be Held Tonight Juniors of Senior high will hold their annual class party tonight in the girls' gymnasium. Canyonville Academy Dates Modern Life Play ihe Canyonville Bible acad emy students will present the play "Four Roses," written by Robert Shaffer, a member of the academy staff, Saturday at 8 p.m. at the school auditorium. The play, directed by Mrs. Shaffer, is a drama of modern life in America today. The plot cenors around the experiences of a San Francisco youth faced with the proposition of choosing a life's work after graduation. The play was first presented at the academy in 1939. The gen eral puouc is invited and admis sion will be free.
