Williami will mall notification to the own ers of livestock brands that they should re-record the brands oe fore May 1, 1950. Included with the notification will be an appli cation and blotter form for use in submitting a burned impres sion. All brand owners will be en couraged to make their applica tions for re-recording as rapidly as possible after Jan. 1, said Jones, A pamphlet containing an ex tract of laws pertaining to live stock brands will be mailed to all brand owners by the depart ment after Jan. 1, said Jones. Any failure to re-record a brand or mark shall be deemed an abandonment of the brand, and any other person, firm, as sociation, or corporation shall be at liberty to adopt, record, and use any brand so abandoned, pro vided it is registered under the new owner's name. Brands should be renewed in January of every fifth year. Violation Punishable Any person who uses or causes to be used any brand upon a horse, gelding, mare, mule, ass. jehny, foal, bull, steer, cow, hei fer, or calf without first having said brand recorded with the State Department of aagriculture and receiving permission to use rt snail be guuty ot a rnisaea meanor and subject to a fine of not more than $100 or imprison ment in the county jail of not more than than three months, or both. A bona fide producer is re quired under the provisions of Section 32-905 to obtain a sher iff's tag before transporting any carcasses of animals which he has slaughtered. Anyone handling livestock as a business and selling within 30 days will have to have a live stock dealers' license and to post bond with the state. Any horses, mules, cattle or calves on the public highways must be accompanied by trans portation certificates, which are available from the county agent, J. Roland Parker, or from Jones, who may reached at P. O Box 287, or Rt. 1, Box 19. Corn steep liquor and milk sugar are used to make penicillin. Studies are being pushed to de velop other fermentation prod ucts in antibiotics, feed yeasts, vitamins and alcohol, the depart ment says. One project is growth of mushroom spawn which is said to have as good food qualities as yeast and tastes better. Other projects now try to find ferments that will use fruit pulps, dairy by-products and cannery wastes.
