surged for the first time Into a
mid-Columbia area of 600 farms
near here Tuesday.
A new substation of the Bonne
ville power administration went
Into operation. It relayed power
to about 50 farms. Main lines
are Installed for service to an
other 550 farms In Morrow, Gil
liam and Wheeler counties. Con
nections will; be marie when
transformers and feeder lines
are installed. '
BPA district manager Henry
R. Richmond Jr. said the deliv
ery represented the end of a 10
year program of the Columbia
Basin Electric co-operative at
Heppner.
The power was brought from a
BPA substation at Pendleton, re
layed over Pacific Power and
Light Co., lines to Hermiston and
picked up there by the Co-op
lines.
The Pacific Power & Light,
which now services some com
munities in the area, reported It
also planned to expand Its lines.

Orgy Of Auto Stealing
KLAMATH FALLS, Nov. 10.
UF Tale of a string of stolen
and abandoned cars stretching
from Mary's Corner, Wash., to
Maltn, Ore., was told state police
Wednesday by iwu iccn-age iwys
who said they were escapees from
the Chehalis, Wash., boys' train
ing school.
The boys were Identified as
Donald J. Palmer, 17, Seattle, and
Harvern Allwyn Davis, 16, Port
Townsend, Wash.
They said they broke away
from the Chehalis school October
24 and first stole, a car at Mary's
Corner, abandoning it at Port
land. Other cars, they said, were
stolen at Portland, Newberg,
Shehldan and various places in
Oregon, making "13 or 14" in all.
The last three were taken in
Klamath Falls and abandoned in
this vicinity. Palmer and Davis
were picked up at Malin and are
held in the county Jail on car
theft charges.
Issue 314 to 131.
