Gov. Alfred E. Drlscoll next
Tuesday will try to do something
no other New Jersey governor
could do succeed himself as
the state's chief executive.
A decisive' victory might well
stamp the 47-year-old governor
as a front runner for the 1952
Republican Presidential nomina
tion. Driscoll is the first New Jer
sey governor to seek the office
under a new state constitution,
adopted in 1947, which permits a
governor to serve a consecutive
term.
His opponent in the Tuesday
election is Democrat Elmer H.
Wene, a onetime Congressman
hacked by Frank "Boss" Hague
whose once allpowerful political
machine has been creaking of
late.

Nursing Home Hit
By New Charge
ASTORIA, Nov. 4. UP) The
State Board of Health, which re
licensed a Seaside nursing home
last spring, was asked today to
take another look at the situation.
The Clatsop county welfare ad
ministration moved 10 patients
from the home Saturday and said
they were "inadequately attend
ed." Mrs. Bertha Roth, county ad
ministrator, identified the place
as Mary's Nursing home. She
said there had been numerous
complaints and the Stale board
made an investigation last
