Homecoming'
Plans Announced
Senior high school will hold
Its annual homecoming tonight in
connection with the Grants Pass-
Roseburg football game, to be
played at Finlay field, starting at
8 o C10CK.
Pat Mears, yell queen, said both
the Cavemen and Indians high
school bands will participate dur
ing halftime activities. Joan Rut-
ior, jasc years yen queen ana
now attending Oregon State col
lege, where she was recently
chosen a princess of the OSC
homecoming, will lead the stud
enls in yells. Dona Mears, last
year's song leader, now attend
ing Willamette university, will
lead the students in a song.
Other hal.'tlme activities will
feature the Pep club.
Following the game, an In
formal dance Is scheduled in
the girls' gymnasium, where al
umni will be feted and the home
coming queen and princesses an
nounced. The queen will be
crowned at 10:45.

Grand Jury Having
Extra Long Task
The Douglas county grand jury
is continuing is session and will
probably not be able to wind up
its work before Tuesday of next
week, according to District At
torney Robert G. Davis.
The grand jurors are having
one of the heaviest slates on re
cord to consider. Davis said that
more than 35 cases are ud for
Investigation.
The work of the jurors was
extended by the death of Stanley
James Tucker, 47, of Springfield,
iormeny of Myrtle (jreeK, whose
body was found last Sunday
morning under a bridge ap

fice. The basket dinner-dance will
be held Saturday at 8 p.m. at
the Country club. George Fos
ter, Dr. Bruce Hetrlck, Ray Ben
ston and Robert Browning are
on the committee in charge.
Pat Manning announced his
Community Chest committee,
which includes Walter Allen,
Claude Baker, Allen Clute, Jim
Daugherty, Dr. Hetrick, Paul
Krueger, Don Metzger. Keith
Phillips, Phil Sutton, Frank von
Borstel and Foster. Each is to
head a committee of five to can
vass the Lions club's portion of
the city.
The International governor,
Walter Fisher, Ontario, Can., will
visit here at noon Saturday, Nov.
12, enroute from Eugene to Med
ford on a tour of the west. Bruce
EJliott is In charge of the pro
gram. Lady Lions are Invited to
attend.

State Employes association,
meeting at the Knights of Py
thias hall Thursday evening,
elected the following officers for
the ensuing year: Pat Gregory,
president; Lois Baker, vice-president;
Barbara Lamb, secretary
and Ray Asburry, treasurer. In
stallation of new officers will be
conducted by outgoing president,
H. R. Newcomb following a din
ner meeting Dec. 1. Instructions
were given to delegate Gregory,
who will attend the general coun
cil meeting in Portland Nov. 19.
