( Illegal Strikes Hit By Official Of Teamsters Union A.N JOSE. Call!., Oct. 27.-.P laking roundhouse swings at "illegal Jurisdictional strikes." and at "enemies in and outside lahor ranks." Dave Beck of Se attle opened the 13th Western conference of his AFX teamsters' union Monday. Beck is executive vice presi dent of the union. About 300 un ion members from 11 Western states are here for the confer ence, which runs through Friday. "We follow the constitution of the American Federation of Li bor which provides for settling all Jurisdictional grievances." Beck declared. "We want peace ful settlement of all these dis putes or there will he civil war Beck mentioned plans to re move some of the production units of Boeing Aircraft Co. from Seattle to Wichita. "All the resources of the team sters will he used to keep the Boeing plant in operation in Se attle, he said, "despite efforts of the Army, Navy, or anyone else." Beck referred to Communists as "crawling filth, perverting the American labor movement anl seeking to destroy the free enter prise system." He said the AFL teamsters had 1 spent $500,000 in California to or- j ganize cannery workers, and had i paid $200,000 in legal fees in the long battle of the CIO. At another point Beck declar ed "I will not under any condi tion recognize an illegal picket line, because if we do, we are I dishonorable people." Dillard By ROSA HEINBACK This community has watched with great interest the growth of an attractive new home on First street and Highwav 99. in the Ford's addition of Dillard. Mr. and Mrs. Waller F. Middlestadt are the owners and are now fin ishing their farm-style home. Middlestadt is yard foreman at the Roseburg Lumber company mill, Dillard branch, and after hours works on his new home. The Middlestadts plan to have it finished enough to move Into by the first of December. Mr. and Mrs. W.ilter W. Ap plcyard hv recently return ed from an interesting three day trip to Portland, where they attended the Advance for Christ convention of three states, California, Oregon and Idaho. Later they visited Mrs. Appleyard's nephew, and old neighbors in Portland. The Aparienska Camp Fire group of Dillard met at their guardian'! home Thursday night for their weekly meeting. They planned their Hallowe'en Partv to be held Oct. 29 and their booth at the P.-T. A. carnival at the school house. They also worked on their head bands. The next meeting will he hold the night of Oct. 27. Those present were: Bet ty Ann Anderson, Dorothy Davis, Gain Gray, Lot Fosback. Opal Colvin, Manet Covey, Bonnie Wells and their guardian, Mrs. Llla McKean. Miss Betty Jean Post, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Post, who was Injured in an auto mobile while returning from the football game a few weeks ago, is Improving. She will still have her injured ankle in a east for the next few weeks, so would be "very glad" to have her friends call and see her. Mr. and Mrs. Stanford Buell spent an enjoyable three-day trip to Portland on business and pleasure. There was his wife. Jean, the mother of his four children. There waa Caroline Kageler, 33, a pretty brunette with whom he went to live last May. Police told this story: Sunday night Caoline Kageler called Jean Fish and proposed a triangle love bargain: Joseph would return to his wife provid ed Caroline Kageler could see him once a week. "No!" cried Jean Fish. "All right." said Caroline Kag eler, "if I can't have him and you want him back. I'll send him back to you in a box." For 12 hours Jean Fish fran tically tried to find where her husband and Caroline Kageler were living. Then police called and told her. Both were found dead on the floor of Queens apartment Monday.
