Eagles' Plans For Christmas Spell Joy For Children Members of the Roseburg Eagles lodge are planning a "double program" for this Christ mas season by sponsoring a chil dren's caroling group and a plan for toy repair and distribution, according to Ted Travis, Eagles vice-president. Preliminary steps have been taken to promote both projects. Travis said "about a dozen" chil dren have signed already for the Christmas carolers' group but he expressed the hope that at least that many more will sign the ap plication cards available at the Donut Bar on W. Cass street. Any boy or girl old enough to read and who likes to sing is eli gible for the group, Travis said. He said the Eagles plan to have a local music teacher Instruct the group In weekly practice sessions. During the week preceding Christmas, the carolers w ill board truck and travel throughout tients, and the local citizenry. Maercklein, for merly of Roseburg, died Sunday at a Corvallis nursing home fol lowing a lingering illness, accord ing to a wire report received here by Mrs. Walt Miillholland. Funeral services will be held Wednesdny at 2 p.m. at Newport. Mrs. Maercklein and her hus band, Dr. Maercklein, retired. lived for a number of years in the Garden Valley district.
