Bear, owned and operated by Dewey Abbott, hit a submerged log in the Schol field river Monday night last week, while towing a raft of logs to the Reedsport Lumber Co. mill Abbott reported the propellor bent beyond repair and the shaft badly bent. The bottom was so badly stove in. that only the prompt action of Clifford Leach and Abbott with the navigation company barge pump, saved it from sinking. She was hauled to the naviga tion company ways where the shaft was repaired and a new propellor made and new bottom put on. Friday saw her aeain (owning log rafts out of Smtth river.
