Birds, Flowers Feature Service At Church Birds and flowers were featur ed in an unusual but very inter esting service at the Christian church Sunday morning, Oct. 9. Ten cages containing canaries and two pairs of love birds were placed around the auditorium. The floral decorations consisted of baskets of flowers placed all around the balcony rail and on the platform. The birds sang when the congregation sang, but were quiet when there was no music. A program by the children's departments was held in honor ot rally day during the Bible school hour. Over 450 persons w ere pres ent for the service. Accident Talking Point For Highway Project Harvey Blythe of Eugene, ex ecutive secretary of the Oregon V. S. 99 Highway association, feels he has a strong arguing mint the next time he appears before the state highway com mission. While returning from a recent association meeting at Grants Pass, Blythe's car and another venicle were Involved In a side swiping accident on a curve ne.tr Yoncalla. He cited the narrow road width, the dangerous curve and foggy weather as causes for the accident. Blythe said In Roseburg Wed nesday that he doesn't expect the highway commission to do any thing about the foggy weather. But the next time he argues the need for straightening curves and widening the highway, he feels his remarks may be a little moie heated.
