I Tha News-Review, kM.wrf, Or. Man., Seat. 19, 1949 Hollywood's Lead Strengthened By Win Over Seals Bv JIM BACON Aesoclated Pro Sports Writer Four up and seven to go. The Hollywood Start will have to tumble, fall down and break their collective leg to loe the Pacific Coast league pennant now. The Stan, great Sunday team all season, took a pair from San Francisco 10-3 and 2-1 yesterday while the challenging Oaklands dropped two to the lowly Los Angeles Angels 9-8 and 5-1. Thus, If Hollywood captures just three of Its remaining series with Seattle, the Acorns must take all seven from Portland to tie. Four Twlnk wins and the Oaks are dead period. Sacramento took a choking two game grip on third place with a twin win from Seattle 2 to 1 and 6 to 1. Frankie Daaso and Bob Gillespie were the winning Solon huriers, Datso hurled a six hitter In the seven-inning opener while Rugger Ardlzoia tossed a five hitter in losing. Portland and San Diego split their two. Beavers took the PICTURE OF A HAPPY COUPLE! Naturally! They'vt just Installed on of our beautiful FROST Brand Oak Floor, irf their home! You'll like them too! Like the way they bring out the true beauty of your rooms ond furnithings. Like the easy way they clean and polish to high lustre even after years of use. The crowd wasn't. The scant 175 persons who paid to hear Miss Page, star of radio, stage and screen, and her equal ly entertaining husband accom panist, Count Solito de Sollis, were lost in the large auditorium. Those attending were loud in their applause of Miss Page's voice, and repeatedly called her back at the close of the concert. Some in the audience were dis appointed that she did not sing Jerome Kern's "Make Believe," and that De Solis did not play "Liebestraume," as printed on the program, but Miss Page did honor with two encore selections. One was "Cadiz." composed by her husband, and to which she wrote the words. Singing in a low contralto voice, Miss Page gave excellent and entertaining renditions of popular selections. Her charming personality, the superb quality of her voice, clear enunciation and her dramatic ability to put across her presentations, all added up to a delightful evenings program. Miss Page opened, singing "Tea for Two" and followed with "Cheek to Cheek," "Brown Bird Singing," "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man," and "My Bill," In her first group, and "Stormy Weath er," "S u m m e r 1 1 m e," "Mad About the Boy," "April Made A Fool of Me," "Hands Across the Table," and "His Majesty the Baby," In the second group. De Soils played several popu lar selections, including "Cadiz." "Granada" and "Malaga," his own compositions. OH Company Engineer In Arabia Visits Hert Recent visitors at the R. C.
