Water To Be Released '
From Flood Control Dams
EUGENE, Sept. 14 tT
Stored water in the Cottage
Grove and Fern Ridge reservoirs
will be released beginning Sept.
IS, the army engineers have an
nounced. The expected withdraw
al of water from Kern Ridge
will raise the level of the Long
Tom channel about five feet.
Storm conditions may increase
the depth. After the stored water
is withdrawn to the prescribed
minimum pool level, normal flood
control will be adhered to, and
this operation will cause variable
stages of water In the Long
Tom.
Water drawn from Cottage
Grove lake will cause a rise In
the Coast Fork of approximately
three feet. The engineers advise
persons having pumps in the
river to remove tnem.
