Ilmmoni A most unusual and charming affair wh held bunday, August 28. between two and five o'clock In the afternoon In the parlora of the rirat Baptist church, when relatives and friends were Invited to honor Rev. and Mrs. L. L. Sim mons on their golden wedding an niversary and to honor the Sim mons' son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mohley, on their silver wedding anniver sary. Members of Victory circle acted as hostesses for the affair. Both Mrs. Simmons and Mrs. Mobley wore Identical gowns of dusty rose crepe. Mrs. Simmons' gown was trimmed with gold se quins and Mrs. Mobley's was trim med with silver sequins. Mrs. Simmons' corsage was of gold-col. ored rosebuds and Mrs. Mnhley wore gardenias and stephanotis. Relatives present wore gold and silver corsages. Mrs. Anne Ken yon and Mrs. Clara Rodgson had charge of the two guest books. Out-of-town guests for the cele-, hration were Mrs. Simmons' twol sisters. Mrs. Anne Kenvon of Mis sion City, R. C, and Mrs. Clara I Hodeson of Veradale. Wash.: Mrs. Bern ice Newman (daughter of the Simmons and sister of Mrs. Mobley), and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Newman, son and daughter-in-law of Mrs. Newman, and her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. William La Rov and children, Jimmy and Dorothy, of North Hollywood, cam. R, L. Simmons and his daugh ter, Miss Manan of Longview, Wash. Mr. Simmons la a son of the Simmons and brother of Mrs. Mobley; Mrs. Kloyd Janes (daugh ter of L. L, Simmons), and son. Earl, of Longview, Wash. Mrs. Janes is a granddaughter of the Simmons. Mr. and Mrs. John N. Sparks Jr., and baby son of Salem. I Mrs. Sparks, formerly Lois Mobley, is a daughter of the Mo bleysl, and. other children of the Mobleys Included Mr. and Mrs. (leorge Hughes and son, Alan, (Mrs. Hughes was formerly Miss Bobby Mobley), and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Mobley and Harold Mobley all of Roseburg. Mrs. Kenyon and Mra. Hodgson were both present at the Simmons wedding fifty years ago. R. L. Simmons was at the Mobley wed ding twenty-five years ago. The Simmons and Mobley fami lies have made many friends since moving hert to make their home. Of the Simmons' ten grand children, eight were present and five of their seven great. grand children were In attendance. A lovely gift was presented to the Simmons from Rev. Mr. Sim mons' Sunday school class and others. Victory circle presented an attractive silver tray to the Mobleys and a beautiful gold bud vase to the Simmons. Both Mrs. Simmons and Mrs. Mohley are members of Victory circle. Many beautiful gifts were pre sented to the two honored couples from relatives and friends. Two laoe-covered tables were decorated with candelabra with one In crystal and the other in silver, with fancy white candles decorated In silver and gold. One of the tables was centered with a large beautifully decorated cake, which had a circle of gold flow- Plcture by Photo Lab era and leaves and was especially made for the occasion by Cleo's bakery. The other table held the crystal punch bowl and the cen terpiece was a flower arrange- gladioli and roses. Mrs. Bernlce Newman cut the cake, assisted by Mrs. Keith Mo bley and Mrs. La Rov. Mrs. Leon ard Newman and Miss Miriam Simmons served the punch. A delightful program was pre sented by Mrs. Joseph Deets, who sang "To You." by Speaks; "Wind Song," by Rodgers. and "I'll Walk Beside You," by Murray, accom panied by Mrs. Gordon Walker; vocal solo, 'Through the Years," by Harold Mobley, accompanied by Wendell Johnson; Leonard C. Newman sang, "One Alone" and 'The Lord's Prayer," by Millet; Mrs. La Roy sang two solos, "Sweethearts by Victor Herbert, and "My Hero," accompanied by Mr. Johnson, who played two vio lin numbers, "Melodie," by Kreis ler and "Danse Espognok" by Kramer, accompanied by Mrs. S. M. and Mrs. Donald Rychard Miss Radine Payne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Payne, be came the bride of Donald Ry chard, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ar thur Rychard, at a prettv horn wedding, held at the Rychard home in Hayhurst Valley, Satur day evening, Sept. 3rd at 8 o'clock. Large bouquets of zinnias, astors, cosmos and gladioli were artistically arranged around the large living room. An Impro vised altar was erected at the end of the room In front of a large window, where large bou quets of gladioli and greenery were used. Miss Mauline Ry chard, niece of the bride groom, lighted the candles, while Mrs. George Edes, played s o f t ly "Hearts and Flowers." Mrs. Edes also accompanied Mrs. Luther Daugherty, who sang "I Love You Truly," Just before the. cei emony, and also played the nup tial marches. The bride was beautiful in an afternoon dress of white jersey, made with accordian pleated skirt, a sweetheart neck . line. She wore a white halo hat, with small veil. Her corsage was white gardenias and tiny pink rosebuds. Utile Vivian Payne, sister of the bride scattered rose petals in the path of the bridal party. Miss Marilyn Payne, sister of the bride was maid of honor. She wore a pale pink crepe dress and a cor sage of white and pink gladioli and white rosebuds. Quentin Ry chard was his brother's best man. Rev. James Smith, pastor of the Yoncalla Church of Christ read the single ring ceremony in the presence of the immediate rela tives of the couple, and a few close friends. Following the cer emony a reception was held. Aft er the traditional cutting the first slice, the beautifully decorated 3- (layer wedding cake, topped with a mlnlalure Dndai couple was served by Mrs. Dale Payne. Mrs. Cassius Rychard and Mrs. Dar rel Payne poured, assisted by Mrs. Payne Sr. The couple left immediately for a short honeymoon. On their re turn they will make their home in Hayhurst Valley, where the bride groom is engaged in turkey raising. Mrs. Rychard wore her wedding dress and hat for her going away costume. ' The bridegroom, who only ten months ago was stricken with a severe case of polio, has re covered greatly. He was grad uated from Yoncalla high school class of "48. The bride was grad uated from Yoncalla high school class of '49. She is employed at the Dickeys Market and will continue her work there.
