Must Uphold Britain Security WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 UP) Senator George (D-Ga) told the Senate Wednesday that "if Britain goes down we'll go dow n too in a matter of months." George made this statement as he opened debate on (he exten sion of the reciprocal trades act to give President Truman a free hand in approving trade agree ments abroad. The debate got under way as American, British and Canadian leaders began talks at the state department on ways to solve Britain's financial problems. The tariff measure is not Just domestic issue, George argued, but a step to solving the world's dollar and sterling problems. "If sterling takes a real de cline?' George said, "even to its actual value, it will not be the British alone that will decline. It will be other counrties as well." George urged the senate to pass the reciprocal trade bill quickly and without change. He is chairman of the finance com mittee that approved the measure. By ruling out amendments, George made It clear the admin istration will offer no compromise to republican critics of the bill.
