At 12:15 p.m. equipment was rushed to near the Sewage dis posal plant; at 2 p.m., there was a grass blaze south of the Masonic cemetery and at 7:40 p.m., an other grass fire at Reservoir hill summoned the local fire fighting force. Y., will be Installed as pastor of St. John's Lutheran church in Sutherlin Sunday, Sept. 4. ' The service begins at 3 p.m. and will be held in the Boy Scout hall on Central street near Umpqua avenue in Sutherlin. Rev. W. A. Sylwester, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran church in Roseburg. has been requested by Rev. C. H. Bensene, president of the Northwest district of the Lutheran church, Missouri synod, to serve as the officiating pastor In the Installation service. He will be assisted by neighboring Lu theran pastors from Grants Pass, Cottage Grove, Albany, lorvams, and Portland. Nlcolazzl, doing business as Chevron Gas Station, has filed suit in circuit court against J. S. Jepson, demanding judgment for $433.69 for gas, oil and other sta tion products. Tracks Homemakers' Training Meet Set This Month Officers training for home ex tension unit officers will start the year's program for eighteen groups of homemakers in Doug las County. The training meeting will be held in Roseburg at the Knights of Pythias hall on Tues day, September 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. h-'ach unit is to be rep resented by the chairman, vice chairman, secretary and treasur er. Mrs. Earl Olllvant, Brockway, chairman of the county home ex tension committee, will preside. Other county committee mem bers will be hostesses and have general charge of decorations, registration, music, and other parts of the program. The day will be devoted to giv ing specific help to the officers on their work, discussing the year's projects, and distributing materials used by the groups dur ing the year. Cass Over Douglas County Bank VIOLATES PROBATION Larry Kerstine has been rear rested as a probation violator, and has been sentenced to serve the balance of his term on a vagrancy charge in the Douglas county Jail, according to Justice of Peace A.
