William Legion To Aid Yets In Getting Insurance Pay The American Legion will as sist all local veterans In apply ing for their National Service Life insurance dividends. This was announced today by William E. Milla commander of Umpqua post No. 16, The Ameri can Legion, of Roseburg. "Our post will have the nec essary applications Aug. 29 which veterant will have to take to the VA to get their NSL1 dividends," Commander Mills said. "Every veteran who held his NSLI policy for 90 days or more will have a refund coming to him. The VA expects to pay out approximately $2,800,000,000 in these refunds. Payments per veteran are ex pected to average about $175 ac cording to the VA. Applications should be filed at quickly at pos sible because it will take weeks and months for a veteran to get nit retuna cneck. Actually, Commander Mills ex plained, the American Legion will put on the biggest manhunt In hislory in trying to locate vet erans who are eligible for the NSLI refunds. 'The VA estimates that some 16,000.000 veterans are entitled to NSLI refunds," Commander Mills said, "today the VA has the home address of only six mil lions of eligible veterant. The American Legion will help it to locate 10,000,000 othera." The home of Umpqua post at 118 So. The record ing was that of a radio interview at the Bend club's meeting. Listeners heard that Rotary is now active in HO countries of the world, with 7,000 clubs and 322, 000 members. Activities of the organization, such as granting in do much toward bettering inter national peace and understand ing. Guests at the Rotary luncheon included five members of the Kl wanis club, Earl Plummer. Boo Kvans, Herman T. West, Ervin Brunn, and Dr. B. R. Shoemak er.
