Riser, Karlinko
Will Battle On
Saturday Card
The young man wih a purpose,
Jack Kiser, will be back before
his Roseburg fans Saturday night
in the opening one-hour match
at the armory, meeting Lew Dar
linko, the mad Russian of wrest
ling circles.
Kiser's purpose is to gain a
shot at the new coast champion
to be crowned here Saturday
night and that would be either
Tex Hager or Buck Weaver.
Kiser who was eliminated from
the title tourney two weeks ago
by Weaver is eager to get back
into top contention and he espec
ially wants to get a match with
Weaver. Weaver tricked him out
of the tourney when he, instead
of the referee, patted Kiser on
the back while he had him pinned
down.
But the young Portlander will
have a whale of a battle cut out
for him with the Mad Russian.
Karlinko has shown in Roseburg
once before and from his sen
sational showing the fans know
he's a great grappler. The vil
lain uses almost every known
dirty tactic and when coupled
with some great wrestling saavy
it makes him one of the toughest
men in the game to beat.
The main event will see either
Hager or Weaver collect an ex
tra $200 for winning the champ
ionship. Fans are warned to get their
ringsides early at Powell's Sport
ing Goods store where tickets are
at a premium. The championship
belt is also on display at Powell's.
