Cornerstone To Be Laid In Reedsport High School Herman Husen, Reedsport, wor shipful master of Aurora Lodge, No. 59, A. F. and A. M., of Gar diner, has received the corner stone which will - be laid with fitting ceremonies Monday eve ning in Reedsport's new high school building. The program will start at 7 o'clock. Papers and records to be en closed in the box under the cor nerstone are being gathered. The Masonic Grand lodge will have charge of laying the cornerstone. At least four Grand lodge officers plan on being present, including Shaylor Eldridge, Portland, grand master; H. D. Proudfoot, Portland, grand secretary; Enph Carlson, Portland, grand mar shall; and Frederick Hunter, Eugene, past grand orator. The high school band from Wa Id port will furnish music for the event, and vocal numbers will be furnished by Miss Donna Abbott, Gardiner, and Mrs. Roy Henderson, Reedsport. Neighbor ing lodges have been Invited to attend the event. Mayor Tom Llllebo, of Reeds port, who ha3 the contract for putting up tne building, is a past master of Auroro lodge. Fire At Rice Valley Destroys Wyant Home Fire destroyed the home and personal belongings of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wyant of Rice Val ley July 16, when a kerosene stove exploded while Wyant was away from home. Although Mrs. Wyant could save nothing from the house, help was obtained from the near by Hartford-Shepherd mill and woods crew to keep the fire from spreading. The Wyants are staving with mends In Kice Valley at the present but expect to rebuild soon. Rice Vallev Home Economics club is sponsoring a benefit card party and shower Saturday night at tne hall, with Mrs. Hartford as chairman. The affair will be nefit Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wyant, whose home burned with all their f personal belongings Saturday of ast week. Prizes will be awarded and refreshments served. City Building License Requirement Clarified Commercial contractors con nected with the building trades and all persons engaged in plumbing and electrical work are required to have licenses, renort- ed City Inspector C. J. Osbun. An earlier Item in the News Review was misleading in stat ing that all persons engaged in any form of building trades were required to have licenses. Except for plumbing and electric al workers, only general contrac tors in other phases of construc tion come under the building or dinance. Licenses were due July 1, and unlicensed persons will tie denied building permits hereafter, said usoun. Melrose Couple Dodges Injury In Plane Crash Two Melrose residents. Mr. and Mrs. James Smith, escaped Injury Thursday 'when their small plane overshot a private landing ncia ana crasnea on Cleveland mil. The Melrose counle was re turning from work in Roseburg when the accident occurred. Smith operates a gun shop at 560 N. Jackson street and uses the plane for everyday commut ing.
