NEHALEM, July 15. UP) A
plant of the Hytinen Concrete
Company burned down near here
Wednesday night, destroying the
office, repair shop, and a truck.
The building was located five
and a half miles out of town, on
the Nehalem River's south fork at
Roy Creek.
A damage estimate was not Im
mediately available. The firm
sella ready-mixed concrete.

To Active Club
A partial report on the Active
International Convention held at
Portland last week was made by
Leonard Mclntyre at the weekly
Active Club meeting Thursday
morning in the Shalimar Room.
Representative clubs have spent
over $100,000 on child welfare
projects and In addition four
playgrounds have been complete
ly equipped, he said. The conven
tion stressed the work of Active
International in Interesting
young people in child welfare
work. He said he obtained a much
clearer meaning of the organiza
tion after attending the conven
tion. Louis Adamskl, district repre
sentative in the public speaking
contest, was one of five speakers,
but failed to place he reported.
Retiring President Paul Wray
turned the gavel over o Vice
President Roy Barnhart, who sub
stituted for President-elect Clar
son Chitwood. The club voted to
again sponsor a bowling team.

social meeting next Thursday

young baritone and a nephew of

Present law requires final app

The Interior Department told
the committee in its report on
the legislation that the actual
work always has been done by

and the justice department's par
ticipation is simply a matter of
