If you're a "Breakfast Gang" listener, (7:15 a. m. Monday

Mel Venter read on the Thursday morning show from a listener In
Eugene and from a listener in Roseburg. This Eugene character
stated flatly that "Eugene is the- Lumber Capital of the world" .
and the loyal RosetJurgian also acclaimed Roseburg to be the holder
of that title. Venter and his crew assumed an objective view, under
the circumstances, but what we ought to do now is flood the "Break
fast Gang" show with postcards and letters giving Roseburg proper
placement in the lumber industry standing. C'mon ... cooperate!
Address your letters to "The Breakfast Gang" KFRC San Fran

Tomorrow's "Woody Herman" day ... 2 to 2:45 ... . don't forget
this, if you're a cat . . . and at 2:45 tomorrow, Eddy Duchin will
be interviewed on "Helen Hall's Femme Fair." Seems that Duchin
himself had to be begged and persuaded to practice the piano in his

the Piano Regularly" on the program.
Members of the entire Yankee Baaeball Club, ranging
from playera to coachea to business executives, will vie for
valuable merchandise prizes during tomorrow night'a "Take : '

Truman's Anti-Depression Agenda
Will Be Based On Prior Proposals
WASHINGTON, July 7-M
President Truman's anti-depression
program,. due to reach Con
gress in his midyear economic
report Monday, will be built on
proposals he made In January,
officials predicted today.
They include federal loans to
industry for expansion, drafting
of a "fully formulated" set of
public works plans, proposal for
farm living standards, and broad
er coverage and bigger payments
under the social security and job
less pay programs.
These were among the "rever
sible" features of the stabilization
plan Mr. Truman submitted to
the new Congress six months
ago. They were obscured at the
time by the "anti-inflation" price,
wage and allocation controls
sought simultaneously.

as Legislators who have talked

recent weeks agreed In their
private forecasts on the Presi

the new program. There may, of
course, be other ones or new
twists to the basic proposals.
Few officials would predict that
Mr. Truman will abandon h i 8
proposal for tax -boosting; he
might soften it, they said, and
he already has stated in the
January report that some ex
cise taxes "should be repealed."
They expected a renewed call
for a raise in the minimum wage
from 40 cents an hour to 75 cents.
