Campbell Conducts Meeting Of Roseburg Lions The Roseburg Lions Club held a brief meeting Thursday night, under the direction of the new & resident, Dr. James E. Camp ell. Report was made that Riddle Lions Club will hold an installa tion at 6:30 p.m. July 5. and Can yonville will install July 11. As many members as possible from the Roseburg club were urged to attend. District Governor Forest Losee conducted installation ceremonies at Sutherlin Wednesday night. He was accompanied by Phil Harth, his cabinet secretary, and Mrs. Harth. Tuesday night he install ed the Lions at Medford and Mrs. J. P. Motschenbacher, who with Mr. Motschenbacher accompani ed him, installed the Lady. Lions in that city. Modoc sheriff's officers identi fied him as Eagar capps, 22, from Oklahoma. They said that Capps. Sam my Danner and Marlin Faddis, both of Alturas, were driving to ward Klamath Falls on High way 139 early yesterday morn ing and their car became strand ed on a high center beside the highway when they attempted to turn around. After several cars passed with out giving help, Capps is accused of firing several shots at one car which slowed down and then sped on. The officers said that Danner and Faddis then crawled under a roadside fence, but Capps stay ed with the car and later flagged down Carl Erhardt of Glendale, Ariz., by brandishing the gun. Erhardt, obeying order, was engaged in pulling the stranded car bacK into tne road wnen Joseph Walter Thompson of Cedarville approached In a south- Douna car. Thompson became confused by the lights ahead and his car collided with the Erhardt machine. i The drivers of the damaged cars reported to authorities and officers arrested Capps in the vicinity of Canby. They also pick ed up Danner for questioning. Hazel Dixon, Miss Rosa B. Parrott and Miss Naomi Scott. On Wednesday evening, Miss Parrott and Mrs. Dixon enter tained the Bells and Mrs. Van Kimmell at a fried chicken din ner at Carl's Haven, followed by a social hour at the Parrott home. Lt. Col. Bell has served at the U. S. Army base at Quarry Heights, Fort Amador, Canal Zone, for the last three years. With his family, he will leave next Tuesday for Newport, R. I., where he will enroll for a special school of instruction at the Naval War College. He is prominently known in Roseburg, having attended the local schools and was later gradu ated from University of Oregon. . A number of delightful affairs are planned for the holiday week end for the visitors. Promotional Exercises Slated By Sunday School Promotional exercises for the Camas Valley Sunday School will be held Sunday, July 10 at 10:45 a. m.
