TVO 3 TJ . Ed Wynn, lamed Zleglield star and radio comic, has selected this week's "Favorite Story" to be heard over KRNR tonight at 7:30. It's Robert Louis Stevenson's imaginative tale of the South Sea Islands, "The Bottle Imp." Stevenson, who died jn the South Seas at the age of 44, did some of his most outstanding writing about the South Seas and its people. Alan Ladd returns to the KRNR air-waves tonight at 8 in the ever-popular "Box Thirteen" dramatic series. Tomorrow night "Th. Cisco Kid According to Law" titles the "Cisco" adventure at 7:30. In the days of the old West a law was passed now and then which, although well meaning, caused many a bloody battle. Such was the situa tion involving "Cisco" and his side-kick Pancho. Tune in "What's the Name of That Song?" tomorrow night at 8 . . . Tex Beneke at 8:30 ... and Elliott Lewis In "The Casebook of Gregory Hood" at 10:00. Next time you're in a position to take a squint at KRNR's tower high atop the Umpqua Hotel building . . . you'll note that it's had a new paint job! What's so amazing about that? . Nothing too amazing, except for the fact that the structure itself is 150 feet high ... a dizzying height when you consider that the painter stayed up there long enough to paint the thing , . . without the aid of a safety belt! ' ' "Modern Home"- commentator May Matthews (8:30 a.m. Monday through Saturday) will have at least one avid listener for the next ten days. As will happen in radio ' around this time of the year, programs are tape-recorded In advance when a vacation trip is in the offing. Mrs. Matthews ' left Saturday for a ten-day visit in San Francisco, leaving behind a sad-eyed little son, Johnny. You can bet Johnny's been getting up early these mornings . . . polishing off a quick breakfast in no time at all . . . In order to oatch May's program at 8:30 a.m. It's almost but not quite as though she were here. Distributed in Roseburg by Bates Candy Co. I BLOODY FICURE IN BATTLE OF RACES An unidentified Negro youth, bleeding at the mouth, is restrained by police at Fair grounds Park in St. Louis, after White and Negro groups clashed over rights to a city-owned swimming pool. The disorder grew from a city directive quickly rescinded permitting Negroes to use the swmming pool which had been exclusively tor white patrons. Mayor Joseph Darst of St. Louis rescinded the order.
