Purvis Aitorney for Plaintiff Post nfflca Address; fteadsport, Oregon. The class of 1924 has done all right for itself. In fact I have come to the conclusion, after studying some statistics compiled lor tne class s i:tn reunion tins ear, that one of the signs of a missient life Is not to have been ratlualed from Yale university the year Calvin Coolldge was elected President. These highly secret figures were smuggled to me by a ribald friend who sent. them here, hid den in an old pumpkin, via an intermediary. The man traveled on a coach car of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Rail way to avoid detection. The statistics show that 25 years after leaving Yale's ivory tower the boys have an average earned income of $17,210 and an average income from all sources of $25,111. The largest single Income was a tidy $100,000. The boys have turned out to be good steady husbands. They carry an average of $35!2t2 In life insurance enough to cheer any prospective widow. Some 71 percent nave one or more serv ants ami only 7.1 per cent have wives who work outside the home. More than 82 percent have never leen fired from a Job and 12.2 percent were only fired once. The class of 1924 produced only one clergyman, one coroner, one librarian, one ratlio broad caster, one newspaperman and one man willing to describe him self as a philanthropist. But it tinned out lti bankers, 31 educators, 22 insurance men, 37 lawyers, 22 Investment brok ers, 22 physicians and 68 manu facturers. Today, 149 men own all or part of their businesses, 54 own no part. Six are board chairmen, 34 are company presidents, 44 are vice presidents, 36 are part ners and at least 30 are full owners. Five men have already retired. Not Many Children A total of only 626 children of both sexes was reported by 330 class members, Indicating Yale will have to look beyond its own graduates for its future crop of freshmen. Only two men had as many as six children. Forty two had none. Some 194 men thought the country was in for more infla tion, 90 thought prosperity would continue, 37 foresaw recession and 177 a depression. On the other hand 161 thought the out look of their own business was gcod, 125 believed It was fair and only 10 poor. Yale men are self-reliant. They believe in them selves. The class favored the Marshall Plan 273 to 47, the United Na tions 275 to 40 the atom bomb policy 266 to 42. They opposed a government-sponsored health program 57 to 259, and were against Truman's tax proposals 29 to 288. Incidentally, they paid an average in $8,609 In taxes last year. Some 104 thought war Is in evitable to 157 who didn't. Dewey Heavily Favored In the last election 82.7 per cent reported they voted for Thomas E. Dewey, 6.7 percent backed Truman. 2 percent Wal- ace ana .8 percent Norman Thomas.
