SPOKANE, June 21.)
Convicted of conspiracy but found
innocent of six ether charges,
James A. Allen plans ta ap
peal. The Spokane mining man was
found guilty of conspiracy after
a federal court jury here thought
it over for 20 hours. He also
had been charged with viola
tion of securities regulations and
mail fraud on several counts,
but the jury cleared him of these
charges.
Allen's attorney, R. Max Et
ter, said he would file "within
five days" motions for a new
trial and to test the validity of
the conspiracy conviction.
He said he would take this
Federal Judge Lloyd Black of
Seattle said Alien would be sen
tenced July 16. The maximum
federal sentence for conspiracy
is two years in prison and S5,
000 fine.
Allen was Indicted along with
p. C. Keane. Wallace, Idaho at.
torny, and Joseph Oriemer, Wal-
cused of withdrawing $213,500
illegally from the Lucky Friday
Extension Mining Company and
Pilot Silver-Eade Mines, Inc., of
Wallace. Keane and Grlsmer en
tered "no contest" pleas after
the court dismissed all charges
but conspiracy against Grismer.
They will be sentenced later.
