Thur., Junt 16, 1949 Th News-Review, Roseburg, Ort. 7 i 1 I -, STARTING FRIDAY MORNING Celebration of our GREATEST NEW DILLARD SCHOOL Now under construction is this new modern, eight-classroom school et Dillard. The new building, expected to be completed about Aug. 15, will house the first four grades for the rapidly growing Winston-Dillard community. The four upper grades will be housed in the present building on the same site. The one-story structure is of pumice block con struction with glass brick windows. Clark, who has been attending Southern Oregon College of Edu cation at Ashland, has arrived in Roseburg to visit his mother, Mrs. C. W. Clark, on South Main street. Back From Portland Miss Gladys H. Strong returned to her home in Roseburg Wednesday , evening, following a few days in 'Portland attending the State Music Teachers Association meeting. Grange Meeting A Father's Day program will be sponsored at the Riversdale Grange hall at 8:15 o'clock Friday night. Women of the Grange will act as hos tesses and refreshments will be in charge of Mrs. C. T. Tipton, Mrs. R. B. Hampton and Mrs. James Meyers. To Install Officers Zonta International will meet at a6 o'clock dinner Friday night at the Roseburg Country Club. In stallation of new officers will be followed by initiation of new members. , Public Invited to Card Party Rice Valley Home Economics Club has invited the public to a benefit card party Friday night, June 17, at the hall. Both five hundred and "pitch" will be in play. Refreshments will be served. Community Social Residents of the Winchester community are invited to attend a social at the clubhouse Friday night, June 17, at 8:30 o'clock. Every family has been asked to bring sandwiches or cookies' and their coffee cups. H. E. C. to Meet The Fair Oaks Grange Home Economics Club will meet Friday at the home of Mrs. Viola Hazelett. Meeting Called A meeting of all Army Mothers has been called for Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Belle Crenshaw, 902 N. Jackson street. MASONIC LEADER DIES ASHLAND, June 16. OP) Rufus E. Detrick, 69, prominent in Southern Oregon Masonic orders, died here yesterday. He was a past master of the Blue Lodge, past high priest of Siskiyou Chapter No. 1, Royal Arch Masons; past commander of Malta Commandery No. 4, Knights Templar, and a past potentat of Hillah Temple. His widow, a daughter, Mrs. Helen Smith, Klamath Falls, a son, Robert E., La Grande, and a sister, Mrs. A. N. Swank, Van couver, Wash., survive. LUMBERMAN DIES MENLO PARK, Calif., June 16. (JP Corydon C. Low, 68, Cali fornia and Oregon lumberman and former Portland resident, died Tuesday in a San Francisco hospital. Low was owner and operator of the Kiah Pine Lumber Co., Ukiah, Calif., and the Ford Lum ber Co., Lebanon, Ore.
