LUTHERAN HOUR CHORUS TO BE INTERESTING EVENT OF JUNE 23RD One of the finest entertain ments to be presented in Ro(se burg will be the Lutheran Hour Chorus Concert the evening of June 23rd at the Roseburg Senior High School, under the auspices of St. Paul's and St. John's Lutheran Churches. This Chorus, which is heard by millions of listeners of the English Lutheran Hour, has a membership of 23 this year. Sa cred music in German and Latin will be presented as well as num bers in English. No admission charge will be made as a free will offering will be taken. A most cordial Invliatlon has been extended to the public to attend. RIVERSDALE GRANGE TO MEET FRIDAY NIGHT Riversd.ile Grange will meet at cight-fifleen o'clock Friday evening, June 17, at the hall. A Fathers' Day program will be presented during the lecturers hour. Refreshments will be served by the women of the grange with Mrs. C. T. Tipton, Mrs. R. B. Hampton and Mrs. James Meyers in charge. There was elections of officers and they were president, Shirley Kowen: treas urer, Doris Raines; sergeant at arms, Bill Cook; membership com mittee, Orlene Cook, chairman, careen and Darlene Kowen, De lores DeGnath, Nona Howard, Raymond Cook and Herbert Young; reporter, Hazel Young. The evening was spent in danc ing. Refreshments were donated by Mrs. Guthrie and Mrs. -.alph Mowara. inose present were Nancy Guthrie, Shirley, Careen and Darlene Rowell, Delores and Shirley DeGnath, Nona and Darla Sue Howard, Anita Chapman, Kelly and r-lton bwitt, Kay and Conrad Lakey, Bill, Raymond and Orlene Cook, Doris Raines, Carole Jean and Ralph Maiscnbach, Her bert, Albert a, id Hazel joung. Chaperons were Mrs. Gu.hrie and Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Young. The next meeting will be June 15. WEST MELROSE CLUB TO MEET THURSDAY AT THOMPSON HOME The West Melrose Club will meet Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. H. G. Thompson with Mrs. Howard Shelton in charge of the entertainment. All members are cordially Invited to attend. The club met last Thursday at a delightful 1:30 oclock dessert-luncheon at the home of Mrs. E. M. Seeley. Covers were placed for Mrs. C. H. Spieer, Mrs. Cecil Farman and sons, Larry and Gregory; Mrs. Ed Moon, Mrs. Ell Sanders, Mrs. James Munroe, Mrs. Jennings Gravnlng, Mrs. Howard Kaiser, Mis. BOY SCOUT TROOP HOLDS CAMPOREE On June 4th at 9:30 a. m. a group of the Tenmile Boy Scouts, Troop 125, left for the Boy Scouts camporee at the wincnesier Koo and Gun Club with Scoutmaster A. F. Young. Those making the trip were Don Greene, Warren Nicklason, Elton Swift, Virgil Mills, Raymond Cook, Ronald Gar rison, Tomm Bales, Raymond Kindred, Herbert and Albert Young. The boys took two first places in the contest, for the wa ter boiling contest. They received a walcr pail for the troop use and for the tent peg making contest they received an axe. Mr. and Mrs. Garrison and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Mills, and Mrs. A. F.' Young went up Sunday afternoon to visit the boys in camp and had lunch with them. They returned home Sunday. MRS. Some came many miles to meet classmates not seen for 25 years. During an old-fashioned picnic dinner, sev eral cameras, including a movie were in action. Groups visiting marked the scene with high in terest and a wish for repeats was expressed by many. The little tots (second and intra generanonsi highly enjoyed the swings and slides. Among them were Ronnie and Wayne McEntlre; Sunny Jean Spearman and Donnie Zeigler. boon a swimming party, iresn from the -water, rushed in for lunch. They were Joanne Taylor. Claude Froehllch and wife Phebe, from San Jacinto, Calif., drove nine hundred thirty miles. He repre sents the sales department of a large lumber companv at Ilemet, Calif. Mrs. Frye stated it is a great source of satisfaction to a woman to be able to make beautiful and lasting articles of furniture from such articles as barrels, old fur niture and left-overs. With the many beautiful new materials for covering furniture, women taking the class work have been able to turn out completed articles in a : McEntlre and children of Olalla; Mrs. Chester Jennings, Mr. and Mrs. Curly Spearman and daugh ter Sunny Jean, of Winston, all cousins of the sisters, Mrs. How ard and Mrs. Ackert. AH left with the expression of "Let's do this again before another 25 years pass."
