the Bicycle Safety Parade to be

greater than ever before.
Mayor Flegel. Al Parr, and Mrs.
Iris Helliwell will act as judges in
the spectatcular bicycle safety pa
rade sponsored by Montgomery
Ward & Co., and the Roseburg
Safety Council.
The judges' duties will be to se
lect the winners of the contest
for the best and most orginally
decorated bicycles, and to award
the prizes.
In addition to the Drizes donated
I by Montgomery Ward & Co., free
movie passes win be given to all
contestants who have registered
for the parade before the dead
line on June IS at 12 o'clock. Regis
trations are being taken every
day by Mr. Hane, manager of the
sporting goods department of
Montgomery Ward Co. All priz
es are now on exhibition in Wards
store.

fore the Mid-West Conference of States In the Grand Ballroom of
the Fort Des Moines Hotel, Des Moines, Iowa, this afternoon at 3.
The conference consists of congressional, farm and labor repre
sentatives from 16 states.

15 dancers for a return engage
ment at the Roseburg Senior High
School Wednesday evening, June
22. Curtain time will be at 8 p. m.
Appearances will also be made

tle Creek June 23.
Miss Lind was formerly a lead
ing ballerina under the direction
of the famed choreographer and
dancer, Leonide Massine. bhe
contracted Infantile paralysis
while dancing as a leading soloist
in New York City. When she was
able to travel, she came West to
regain her health, 14 years ago.
Miss una saw much talent, sne
says, in the youthful dancers In
tne west and decided to lorm
a touring company. She accom
plished this purpose last year,
staging the premiere performance
of her group in Roseburg under
the co-sponsorship of Utah Rhod
en, local dance instructor.
Stars In the troupe include Joan
Rutter, Roseburg's own ballerina,
and Gertrude "Stormv" Starmer,
well known In Douglas County
as a dance instructor and pianist,
who will act as pianist for the
group.
Miss Llnd's touring company
will prpsent a group of six bal
lets with divertissements. Among
them will be "Romanza." a tradi
tional Chopin ballet: "Slaughter
10th Avenue, a Jmz ballet: "La
Tune Verde," a fairy tale, and
"Concerto," a modern abstract
ballet.
Among her proteges Miss Lind
lists Vanda Benson, the com
pany's featured soloist: Maria Mi
randa, soloist, and Rosalie King,
the nine-year-old half Swedish,
