Following a honeymoon to Tim berllne Lodge, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks and to Helena, Montana, to visit the bride's parents, they will go to points of Interest In Western Canada and return to Roseburg. They are building a new home on the Country Club road. Both the bride and bridegroom are popular members of the younger set of this city. The bride Is manager of the millinery department at Miller's and Mr. Young, who Is a Certified Public Accountant, maintains his office In the Pacific building. MRS. PLAYDAY AT COUNTRY CLUB IS DELIGHTFUL AFFAIR OF THURSDAY One of the most enjoyable events of the month was the Plav- Day sponsored by the women of the Roseburg Country Club for the members and their Invited guests Thursday at the club. Women of the club will meet next Thursday morning at eight thirty o'clock lor golfing. Lunch eon will be served at twelve-thirty followed by the bridge play. MRS. KENNETH QUINE ENTERTAINS AT CHARMING BRIDGE-LUNCHEON MONDAY One of the loveliest parties of season was the one o'clock bridge luncheon given by Mrs. Kenneth Quine Monday afternoon at the Roseburg Country Club. LUTHERAN HOUR CHORUS CONCERT TO BE HEARD HERE ON JUNE 25TH W. A. Syhvester, paslor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of this city, and also of St. John's Luth eran Church of Sutherlin, an nounced today that the two con gregations will jointly sponsor a sacred concert to be presented by the Lutheran Hour Chorus. The concert is to be given at the Rose burg Senior High School audlto Hum on Thursday, June 25, be ginning at 8:15 p. m. The Lutheran Hour Chorus con sists of twenty-four theological students of the Concordia Luther an Seminary at St. Louis, Mis souri, and is tinder the direction of Harold Hiller. The men of the chorus are selected by competi- live iryouts irom more man tour .hundred students. This interna tionally famed chorus sings every Sunday on the Lutheran Hour on which Dr. Walter A. Maier is the sneaker. At the present time the chorus is on an extended tour and will appear in over fifty concerts before the tour is completed. Ihe chorus Is traveling north from St. l-ouls to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and from there west to the Pacific Coast states. Washington, Oregon and calllornia. The Lutheran Hour Chorus and Its director specialize altogether in sacred music, drawn from the heritage of the church through out the centuries. The chorus Is noted for its interpretation of Bach chorales, considered the fin est typo of church hymn. The concert program will have a good ly representation or Bach cho rales, as well as choral works bv Handel, Tchesnokoff and Grieg. Among the more modern compos ers. Noble and Richter will high- ugnt tne program. Ihe public is most cordially In vited to hear this chorus when It appeal's In Roseburg on June 23. io admission will be charged. Yoncalla High Grcod In Contest For Fete Queen Yoncalla High is the fifth school to enter one of its beau ties in competition for the crown of the second annual Sutherlin Timber Days Centennial. She is pretty Bobble Lamar, 17, above. Bobbie was born in Yoncalla In 1932 and has lived there ever since. She was graduated this year from high school and plans to enter the University of Cali fornia next year. Her ambition is t be an In terior decorator. Bobbie, who weighs 115 pounds and stands a bare five feet tall (she's 5 teet, i inch), took part in school athletics, was on the staff of the school paper, and did well In show card lettering. To show that Bobbie was a popular girl, too. she was elected class treasurer and president of the Yell Club. Bobble will take part In the program at Roseburg Senior High School next Monday eve ning, when the queen will be chosen. Atkinson of Yon calla. Miss McCord is the daughter of R. R. McCord of Nevis, Al berta. Canada. She has been making her home at the Rice home In Rice Valley and attending school. She was graduated from Yon calla High School In the class of 1949. She left for Canada with her father last Thursday, where she will spend a part of the summer visiting. The bridegroom-elect is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Atkinson 1 of Yoncalla. He was also graduated from Yoncalla High School. DORCAS CIRCLE HAS ' INTERESTING MEETING TUESDAY AFTERNOON Dorcas Circle, of Faith Luth eran Church, had a most enjoy, able meeting Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ellis B. Ful ler, 330 Terrace Avenue. Pastor Willis Enckson led the group I singing and gave a most interest- ing devotional concerning the sev- enth commandment, "Thou1 shalt not steal." The group voted to change its name from the East Circle to Dor cas Circle. Good wishes were ex pressed by the group to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson, who are leaving soon on a trip to Sweden, and to Rev. Mr. Erickson, who plans a trip next month. ; Announcement was made re garding the Eden picnic to be held at Elgarose July 12. The af fair will be potluck and those at tending are asked to bring their table service. Eight members and one guest were present.
