The House passed and sent to
the Senate Thursday legislation
raising from 205,000 to 339,000
the number of displaced persons
who may enter the United States
up to June 30, 1951.
The House ordered that all
displaced persons coming here
must sign a non-Communist affi
davit upon their arrival.
It directed also that the Immi
grant must swear he or she is
not a member of the organiza
tion listed by the U. S. govern
ment as subversive.

Pies probably will be scarce In
the nation's capital soon.
One hundred sales drivers for
the city's four largest pie manu
facturers voted to strike last
night. About ,200 other piemaker
employes were to stay home to
day. The drivers are asking high
er wages.
Already on strike were 3,000
AFL building laborers, halting
work on construction valued at
$100,000,000. They walked out
yesterday after lulling to get a
new contract.
