Susan is a 17-year-old graduat ing senior at Roseburg High School who plans to enter Ore gon State College in September. Her ambition is to be an ac countant. Whether Susan will be chosen queen will be decided June 10. All the candidates representing high schools of Douglas County will participate then in a talent show, to be held in connection with Sally Hilt's variety show that night in the 'Senior High School auditorium. Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Motschenbacher, 10S8 Winchester St., Susan has been, in the public eye, as lead bugler yi the Knights of Pythias Girls Drum Corps. She has also been a queen. Last month, as a climax to her high school career, she was chosen queen of the annual May Fete. She also has served as queen in Job's Daughters, of which she is a member.' She's ta ken part in many high school class plays and was business man ager of the senior play this year. Susan was born July 24, 1932, at Klamath Falls and moved with her parents to Roseburg at the age of four years. She stands 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds. Her talent is reading. Receives Degree Mrs. Erika Brust Graham, daughter of Mrs. Helene BrusU of Roseburg, re ceived her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at the Univer sity of Portland. May 29. She re ceived a $25 award from the St. Vincent's Hospital for her out standing loyalty to her school and for her excellent leadership in the College of Nursing. Visitors Leave Mr. and Mrs. Leo Howard and family of Mc Minnville and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Nielsen of Yakima, Wash., left Monday for their homes, follow ing a visit in Roseburg at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. George Lawson and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Howard. Guests last Saturday at the Lawson home included Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Moen of Wllla mina, Ore., and Mr. and Mrs. Irvln Penrose of McMinnville. Leaving Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Dick Firman of Roseburg are leaving June 4 for San Fran cisco, where the former will at tend the national convention of the American Federation of Mu sicians as a representative of the local unit. Following the conven tion, Mr. and Mrs. Firman will continue to Southern California to enjoy a vacation and visit the former's brother and sister. Their trip will take them as far south as Ensenada, Mexico. They plan to be gone the entire month of June. Taken to Portland According to word received here by friends, John Duer of Eugene, formerly chief of police of Roseburg, has ben taken to a Portland hos- Eital for medical treatment. He as been reported very 111 for the last several weeks. Moves to Prlnvllle Mrs. R. H. Solt left today for Prinevllle to make her home. Mr.-Solt has been employed at Prinevllle for the last several months. Their home at the corner of Winches ter and West First streets, has been sold to Mr. and Mrs. Don Reed of this city. Mr. Reed is assistant manager of the Rose burg Branch of the U. S. Na tional bank. Leaves for Wadding Mrs. Blanche Boyer of Roseburg left this morning for Carmel, Calif., to attend the wedding June 4 of her son, Edward, to Anne Doerk sen, at the Church o the Wayfar er. She will be joined there by her other son, Glenn, student at Oregon State College, who is fly ing to Carmel from Salem. Mrs. Boyer will return here in about a week. Home From Trip Mrs. Carl K. Wimberly Sr., and Mrs. J. C. Hume returned to -their homes in Roseburg Tuesday night, fol lowing an extended trip to the East Coast and back via Canada. While in Washington, D.
