Paul Greene was advanced to tenderfoot; Tommy Bales, Don Greene, Raymond Kindred, Bob McEwen, and Don Nicklason were advanced to second class: Albert Young II, Warren Nicklason, and Jim Nuzum attained first class rank. Merit badges for poultry keep ing were presented to Warren Nicklason, Albert Young II, Ron ald Garrison, Herbert Young, and Don Nicklason. Miniature first class pins were presented to Mrs. Gerda John son, aunt of Warren Nicklason; Mrs. Albert Young I, and Mrs. Dewey Chamblen, mother of Jim Nuzum. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Garda Johnson and Mrs. Dennis Mills. Sketches Of Two Jr. High Students To Be Exhibited SAN FRANCISCO, June 1. Sketches' by two Roseburg Junior High School students were select ed this week for special exhibit in Washington, D. C, and other fiarts of the country prior to be ng shipped to foreign schools un der the American Junior Red Cross international art project. Chosen from among a group of more than 1,000 examples of art submitted by students in six west ern states and Alaska were the works of Ken Rcson and Frances , Cooper, both of Roseburg Junior High School. The majority of the sketches submitted, together with those selected for the special exhibit, will be shipped abroad where they will become the property of schools In fourteen foreign coun tries participating In the project. Through' the interchange of school art work depleting various phases of school and community life between the juniors and school children of many lands, the pro ject seeks to promote internation al understanding and good will. Judging was held Monday at the Pacific area headquarters of th Red Cross in San Francisco by a panel comprising Miss Ann Jones, professor of art at the Uni versity of Colorado, Miss Ida May Anderson, art supervisor of the ' Los Angeles city schools and Miss Lucille Durfee, art supervisor of Phoenix, Arizona.
