And they hinted that Com munist Hani Freistadt won t be teaching here after June 1. The trustees agreed. Freistadt's Atomic Energy Com mission fellowship set off a re cent Congressional investigation. In a report to the trustees, the three chancellors of the Uni versity said: "The Communists are taking advantage of the unlimited free dom of our University. And If we are not realistic, prudent and cautious, we may discover too late that we have stretched our freedom and tolerance to the point that we have been un witting 'collaborationists' of the Communists." They said the University "stands united unequivocally op posed to Communism," and add ed: "There Is only one avowed Communist Party member now teaching at any of our three in stitutions. His appointment is temporary and It expires June 1, 1949." Freistadt is a graduate stu dent and part-time physics in structor at the University. His fellowship, granted by the AEC, is scheduled to become effective July 1. IM THE COUNTY COURT Of THI STATE OF ORKGON FOR DOUGLAS COUNTY NOTICE TO CRtnlTORI Id Ui.
