This picture, taken by Mrs. Mable York of Medford, was brought to the News-Review by her sister, Mrs. Wilbur Culp, Roseburg. They, together with Mrs. Culp's son-in-law end daughter, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Grout, visited the lake on that date. They reported IS'feet of snow on the level, end that a total of 72 feet had fallen during the winter. The road, kept open to winter travel, is like a canyon through huge banks of snow, piled high on either side, seid Mrs. Culp. Crater Lake was frozen and considerable snow was on the ice, However, the weather was warm and some of the visitors were skiing in shorts, she said. BELLVIEW CLUB HAS ENJOYABLE MEETING WEDNESDAY AT POTLUCK Bellview Club met for a de licious one o'clock potluck lunch eon Wednesday afternoon at the beautiful home of Marjorie Gil breath on the North Umpqua river near Glide. Lovely flowers from the garden of the hostess, formed the attractive decorations. Mattie Gosnell, president, con ducted the meeting with Edna Parker reading the Club Collect. Officers were elected and in cluded: Lora Kester, president; Beth Boyer, vice-president; Irene Walker, secretary-treasurer. The club will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary during this club year. Lora Kester was first club pre sident and Beth Boyer is one of the charter members. Games were played and prizes were awarded to Beth Boyer and Irene Walker. Those present were Olive L. Walker, Mollie Marie Johnson and Ronald; Barbara Boyer and Rebecca; with Parker, Annie Pratt, Beth Boyer, Irene Wal ker, Edna M. Cov ers were placed for: Rosa Hern, Melva Mobley, Bobbie Hughes, Sarah Woodcock, Laura Mack, Anna Bates, Betty Baker, Mary belle Walker, Nellie Simmons, Floy Lee. Lora Kester and Mar tha Merchant. Lora Kester, president, had charge of the meeting, which op ened with group singing followed by a prayer by Nellie Simmons. The devotions on, "Gardens of the Bible," were led by Marybelle Walker and were most interest ing. Committees appointed for the vear were: White Cross, Floy Lee; reading. Marybelle Walker; work, Nellie Simmons. Visiting and mak ing plans for the coming year fol lowed.
