Tonight at 7, Parisan songstress Line Renaud, Jazz guitarist
Dgardo Reinhart, and Linda Goodrich join Maurice Chevalier on
another regular Friday night "This i Paris" broadcast. At 8, it's
up to "Straight Arrow" to take matters In hand and straighten them
out when a group of crooks start stealing Indians' horses during the
episode entitled "Remount" ... tonight's "Straight Arrow"
adventure.
. Musicians, bandleaders, songwriters and vocalists will
be contestants for tomorrow night's "Take a Number"
broadcast at 7, when Nlok Kenny, talented columnist-songwriter
of the N. Y. Daily Mirror, bandleader-arranger Gor
don Jenkins (of "Manhattan Tower" fame), songstress
Eugenie Balrd, and others compete for valuable prizes.
Emcee Red Benson is the man who asks the questions.
The Mutual-Don Lee Network's "Meet the Press" program has
received an honorable mention award at the 19th Annual Institute
for Education by Radio held at Ohio State University, Columbus,
Ohio. The award was in the field of public affairs programming.
"Meet the Press," which debuted on MDL In 1945 and is featured
on KRNR each Saturday evening at 7:30, was cited "for its pre
sentation of viewpoints of one interviewed who Is in a position to
give pertinent information on a given subject." The citation further
noted: "It evokes unprepared and revealing statements from men
in public life without the sugar coating of a public relations blue
pencil, and its appeal is mass rather than specialized." MBS, ABC
and CBS were also cited for their presentation of the "One Great
Hour" special broadcast of March 26. Tomorrow night's guest on
"Meet the Press" at 7:30 is Senator Kenneth S. Wherry (Republican)
of Nebraska, minority leader of the Senate.

extending an invitation to all
local golfers who do not belong
to the club and who wish to en
ter the third annual invitational
tournament, free use of the golf
course between now and tourna
ment time, in order to sharpen
their game.
The tournament begins Satur
day, May 28, and ends May 30.
It will be matched play. There
will be the championship flight
and five other flights. Eddie
Simmons of Medford will be back
to defend his title which he has
won two years in a row.
Those who enter will have lots
of fun, according to the tourna
ment committee. Entertainment
is being arranged. Entry fee wi.ll
be $4. There will be a medalist

'gambling drive early this year,

i several private golf clubs, outside
the city limits.
Sheriff M. L. Elliott said he
would take action if a complaint
were signed against the clubs, i
"They are all private clubs,"
he said, "and I don't think any
of the boys in my office have
been in them. We have to have
search warrants. If someone
wants to sign a complaint against
the clubs, we'll do our job."
The sheriff said his officers
have been checking public places
and found no slot machines in
operation.
