End of Blockade Choral Society Readying For May 17 Concert Preparations for the Roseburg Choral Society's concert Tues day night of next week are pro gressing .very satisfactorily, it was announced following last night's weekly rehearsal. The concert will be presented at 8 p. m. in the Junior High Audi torium. The society, directed by C. A. Ricketts, will present it's pro gram at the Veterans Hospital Thursday at 7:30 p. m. A special rehearsal will be held Sunday at 2 p. m and final dress rehearsal is scheduled for next Monday at 7:30. While robes, which the mem bers, numbering about 50, will wear for the presentation, ar rived Monday and were issued to the Individuals. Tickets are go ing on sale today in eight places, to be announced later, about town. The program will be mostly a cappella and consists of classical choral group numbers, hymns, spirituals and a novelty number. Dorcas Johnson and Herschel Scott will sing solo selections. Mrs. W. Sherman Plympton is the accompanist for the numbers requiring piano, and will also play piano solos. The concert will climax months of preparation, since or ganization of the community choral group last fall. The mem bers have enthusiastically re sponded to rehearsals, according to reports, and have been ably directed by Ricketts. who is band instructor for the Roseburg schol system. Bridge Across Cow Creek Damaged By Log Truck The steel bridge across Cow Creek at the edge of the Glen dalo city limits was damaged Fri da when struck by an unidentified logging truck. The truck, which reportedly was crowded too close by a car, bent one of the vertical truss members of the bridge and broke a heavy stringer on one side underneath. City police have been posted to direct traffic onto the undamaged half of the bridge. A county road crew has begun repairs, and it is expected that the job will take about a week. In the meantime, one-way traffic is being allowed for automobiles and lumber car riers, but logging trucks have been detoured to the old Stage Coach road. CITY COURT CASES Judge Ira B.
