ELECTION OF OFFICERS
YONCALLA The Woman's
Auxiliary of the Hayhurst Com
munity Club held a meeting at
the hall Tuesday afternoon. Mrs.
Harold Phillips was elected presi
dent for the coming year; Mm.
Bob Brooks, vice-president, and
Mn. Euna Dupper, secretary-treasurer.
The club voted to sponsor
Miss Hardy, senior in Yoncalla
High School for princess for the
Drain Fair. They will hold a
"Cake Walk" in the near future
to get funds to help the princess.
Those present at the meeting were

conducted the business session, at

Canning demonstrations were
given by the girls for their
mothers who were In attendance
as guests.
Lovely refreshments were serv
ed after the meeting to Mrs.

PICNIC ON FRIDAY

Club with Andrew Hanson, lead
er, in charge Friday. The group
enjoyed a tour of the News-Review
and the plywood plant, afler
which a picnic lunch was held at
Umjxua Park at noon.

a polluck dinner and pound so
cial. Mrs. Perry Smith and Mrs.
Oscar Thiel had charge of the
dining room, and Mrs. Chas.
Kirklte decorated the Epworth
hall with large baskets of zin
nias, gladioli and other fall flow
ers. Mrs. Luther welcomed the
new pastor and his wife and
presented a fine stock of staple
groceries to them. Group sing
ing of old time religious songs
completed a very fine evening.

program for the year, Sept. 1,
when officers of the units will
meet at the Knight's of Pythias
Hall In Roseburg for the annual
Officers Training Conference.

Slate College, will be present.
She will conduct a general meet
ing In the morning on extension
unit problems, the afternoon will
be devoted to training sessions
for officers. New officers' Hand
hooks and unit Yearbooks will be

bridge play will begin promptly

League held its regular meeting
Wednesday night at the home of
Rev. and Mrs. W. A. Sylwester.
An important business meeting
was held at which time two dele
gates, Gloria Gaston and Dick
Coenenberg. were elected to at
tend the state convention to be
held in Albany. Alternate is
Peggy Urben.
The study topic for the even
ing was "Christ in Everything."
Games were played during the
social hour, after which delicious
refreshments were served to Rev.
W. A. Sylwester, Willard and
Harold Rietmann, Teddy, Paul,
Jimmy and David Sylwester,
Gloria Gaston, Jane Wlggen,
Gloria Lowman, Shirley Turner,
a guest, and Peggy Urben.
The time and place of the next
