Fenfon Getting
In Top Shape For
Bout With Ortega
The latest word from Babe
Fenton't training quarters in Su
therlin indicates (hat the popular
little lightweiRht will be in top
ihape for his coming fight against
Joey Ortega, Portland, scheduled
for July 29. This is one fight
which the Bane seriousl" intends
to win, for to the winner goes a
chance at the Pacific Northwest
featherweight crown, currently
held by Portland's Bobby Rich
ards. Proof that neither fighter
thinks of he other as a push-over
lies in the fact that both men re
quested Matchmakers Bill Olsen
and Rudy Schlotthauer to post
pone the f'ghts to allow them
mors training time. Although Or
tega Is recognized by the Port
land Boxing Commission as the
outstanding lightweight fighter in
the state, Kenton is training hard
for an upset victory. And Ortega
is training Just as hard to hang
on to his Oregon crown.
Only other bout scheduled thus
far as a certainty is the semi
final between Portland's Leo Tal
bot and Gordon McKay, Klamath
Falls giant a six-round heavy
weight battle.
However, the co-promoters have
signed three local boys for pre
