JUNIOR-SENIOR BANQUET
HELD FRIDAY EVENING
The Riddle High School Junior
Senior banquet was held at the
school gymnasium Friday eve
ning. The Tables were beautifully
decorated with spring flowers
and individual May baskets. Alice
Schneider was chairman of the
decorating committee.
The P.-T. A. ladies served the
dinner to the group. The program
included: welcome by Dave Kid
dle, Junior President: response,
Kena Williams, senior president;
talk by Prof. Arthur Brown,
senior class advisor; sdIo, "Stars
Will Remember," by Virginia
Lilly, accompanied by Mrs. Mar
garet McGee; class history, Betty

Souvenirs," Alice Schneider; talk

MELROSE EXTENSION
UNIT HAS MEETING
Melrose Home Extension Unit
met at the grange hall Friday
afternoon for the closing session
of the year. Mrs. W. L. Boling,
county home demonstration
agent, conducted the demonstra
tion on "Camouflaging Figure
Irregularities." Mrs. C. Chitwood,
chairman of the Unit, conducted
the business session and gave a
report of the Hoiemaker's Festi
val. Melrose Unit received first
prize for tne flower arrangement.
The prize, a box of homemade
candy, was enjoyed by the mem
bers. 1

ine attachments meeting was
read. Plans were made tor a
special meeting in June for a
slipcover demonstration and the
date of the meeting will be an
nounced later by the committee.

HAS MEETING FRIDAY
United Workers Class of the
First Chrlstiaan Church met Fri
day afternoon at the home of
Mrs. J. R. Wilson. Mrs. C. G.
Stanton, president, conducted the
meeting. Several members were
reported HI. Mrs. Abel of Beaver
ton and Mrs. Alexander of Port
land sent greetings and letters to
the class.
The question of evening class
meetings was discussed and it
was decided to discontinue them.
Mrs. A. M. Neal conducted a
very interesting Mother's Day
program in which every guest
participated. Prizes went to Mrs.
Mary Plumer and Mrs. Lulu

James E. Norris, 33, died at
the Gold Beach Hospital at Gold
Beach, Ore., May 4. He was a for
mer resident of Days Creek and
Roseburg. The widow, Shirley,
and a daughter, Jean, survive.
Funeral services were held at
Gold Beach with, burial at Den
mark, Ore., Mav 7.

, 1 cake compressed Yeast tablespoons Sugar
1A cup lukewarm Water 2 teaspoons Salt
I cut. Milk , t 3-4 cups Fisher's Blend Flour
5 tabic spoons Shortening
Crumble feast and soak In lukewarm water. Scald milk. Add shorten'
ing, sugar and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast and water. Sift and
measure Fisher's Blend Flour. Add flour gradually, beating until
smooth. Turn dough onto a ligbth floured board. Knead well. Place
in bowl. Gredst top lightly. Coper and let rise irt warm place (80
85 F.) until doubled in bulk, about I 'A hours. Punch down. Form
dough into balls about the size of a walnut. Dip
m melted shortening and then in a mixture of '2
cup sugar and I tabiespoott cinnamon. Arrange
balls rock-wall fashion two rows high, in greased
8-in. ring mold or sponge take tan. Let rise until
half again its original sizr. Bake at 400 P. 2 to
30 minutes. Serves 8 to 10.
