GIFT GOSSIP

Hello there, all you apathetic
people: Well, kids, what shall we
do today? Play "One Old Ox
Opening Oysters," or would vou
rather explain the Einstein
theory of whatyoumacallit? You
vote for the ox, eh? How Jolly!
So we'll continue with "Two
toads, totally tried, trying to trot
to Troy," then carry on with
"Three tawny tigers tickling
trout." And so it goes until the
climax of "Twelve twittering
tomtits on the top of a tall tot
tering tree." If you want to learn
the remainder of the artful alli
teration connected with this
game, simply send me a post
card, accompanied by one plati
num mink coat or an old
Studebaker, and your reply will
come by return mail. And now!
But as long as we are seeking
pastime, let's hlppety hop down
to DOROTHY'S rumpus room at
115 S. Stephens St., and play "I
Spy" all over the place. Here on
this rack are some book shelf
games. Bowling Kingo, Plmllco
and Chung Peg, all done up in
neat little cases that could readily
be mistaken for books. Easy o
play and easy to store away; not
gaudy but gay, and fun every day.
Larger size book shelf games pre
sent a selection of Baseball, Back
gammon, Checkers, Gin Rummy,
and Acey Ducey. No excuse for
ennui with a library like that at
hand.
Now we'll skip rope Into the
back room and tag a swell plastic-coated
game board, ready to
play you a match of checkers,
chess, acey ducey or backgam
mon. These make scrumptious
lap boards, too, for various other
sedentcry activivities. They're
strong, rigid and smooth, and Just
the right size for almost any pur
pose, outside of a football game.
Plastic checkers, if you're inclin
ed that way.
Sparks Is the name of another
game at DOROTHY'S that should
ring the bell with many a young
lassie. Gives the Ingredients for
learning and transmitting the
Morse code. Especially swell for
Scouts, and in cases of extreme
