Members of the Inter-Se Study
Club held a deliehtful one o'clock
no-hostess luncheon Tuesday at
the Hotel Rose, after which the
group went to the home of Mrs.
W. Howard Pattlson where Mrs.
Thrn Bond presented the pro
gram on "Church of the Latter
Day Saints." Mr. Sweeten and
Mr. Atkinson, Missionaries for
the L. D. S. church, were guest

tensely interesting report of their

twisted cotton as part of their

worn over the left shoulder and
hangs down to the right hip. The
cord has three strands until the
wearer is married and then it
has six or nine.

Grand Club met Wednesday at
a seven-thirtv o'clock potluck
supper at the home of Mrs. Char-

avenue. The rooms were very ar
tistically decorated with early
spring flowers and the table was
centered with a Beautuui low cen
terpiece.

The business meeting was in
charge of the president, Mrs,
Green. The election of officers
for the ensuing year was held
and the following were elected:

dent; Mrs. Nellie Peterson, vice
president, and Mrs. Juanita Hol
gate, secretary and treasurer.
They were installed by the instal
ling officers.
The social hour was spent in
visiting and the playing of two
games with Mrs. Holgate and
Mrs Chase winning the pri'pR.
The revealing of Pollyannas
was enjoyed. Names were again
exchanged for the ensuing year.

MEETING IS HELD
SUTHERLIN Wednesday

Hall west of Sutherlln with forty
members and children seated
around the long linen covered
table. Hostesses for the evening
were Mrs. Ellen Leisenger and
Mrs. Velma Brauninger.
Following the dinner the reg
ular Grange meeting was called
to order with Master Fred Braun
inger presiding.
Mrs. Volvie Jones, Jr., was in
stalled assistant steward to serve
the balance of tne year.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Nleosin, Mr.
and Mrs. A. M. McDonald, Mr.
and Mrs. Claude Schrack, Mr. and
Mrs. Malvln Bixler, and Mr. and
Mrs. Dwight Beck were given
the third and fourth degree obli
gation. The new members each
gave a short talk.
Two new applications were re
ceived and the investigating com
mittee was appointed. The Agri
culture chairman. Charley Wahl.
gave an Interesting report on the
comparison of prices over a span
of years and also read sugges
tions on ways to eliminate rats.
Home Economics chairman,
Mrs. Phreda Wahl, announced
that 514.09 was cleared on the
candy sale held at the last meet
ing. Mrs. Louise Dimmlck attended
the meeting called by the City
Centennial committee and gave
the grange a verv Interesting re
port Those appointed by the
urange as a centennial commit
tee are Mr. and Mrs. unaries
Dimmlck and Fred Brauninger.
A special election will be held
at the next meeting to elect a new
member on the executive com
mittee to replace George Shamp,
who is now residing In California.
A demit card will be given Mr.
and Mrs. Albert Swanson, who
now live in Koseourg Reported

The lecturer's hour was given
to demonstrations of floor work.
At the next meeting the officers
are asked to come early so that
the seating drill can be practiced.

of a meeting of the 99 Men of
the First Christian Church, it
was announced by C. O. Slabaugh
vice president. It will bo "calling
night" for the organization he

Almost anyone can make
alterations in clothing.
And Judging from the
shape of a pair of pants
I took in a few weeks
ago, "anyone" certainly
had been trying. This pair
of pants had been made
six Inches smaller in the
back but were still too
largo for the man. The
work had been done In
Eugene. He almost had ,
to walk behind himself to
get his hands in the side
pockets, which Is a darned
good trick if you can do
it. I ripped the pants all
apart and took out the
side pockets. Then I draft
ed a paper pattern to fit
the man, and re-cut the
f ants entirely. Whert fin
shed they fitted perfectly
and he was well pleased.
