A spiritual advance crusade
will be conducted by Mrs. Vic
toria Booth Demarest, above, in
the First Methodist Church of
Roseburg during the two weeks
from Jan. 25 through Feb. 8,
every evening except Saturday, it
was announced todav by the pas
tor. W. A. MacArthur.
Mrs. Demarest was born in
Paris and received her education
in that city as well as other Euro
pean capitals. However, she is a
citizen of the United States, in
which she has made her home
for many years. She has toured
from coast to coast several times
for extended Christian work.
During one entire season, Mrs.
Demarest conducted preaching
missions in New York City under
the auspices of the Greater New
York Federation of Churches.

said MacArthur. Mrs. Demarest

awaited today by congressional

Applicants for Guides
Must Take Examination
Stricter regulations governing
the issuance of angling and hunt
ing guide licenses will be enfor
ced Deginning February 1 as a
result of action taken by the
Game Commission at its last
meeting, C. A. Lock wood, state
game supervisor announces.
Not only will applicants for
guides have to comply with cer
tain minimum requirements but
it will also be necessary for them
to pass a written examination
given by Game Commission
agents In the field before a li
cense will be issued.
The last legislature granted the
Commission additional discre
tionary power in the issuance of
guide licenses and also Increased
the license fee from $3 to $15.

tion is circulating petitions pro
testing the proposal of the Slate
Game Commission to restrict to
