Mel Ingram's undefeated In
dian baseball club travels Wednes
day to a neutral field at Medford,
where they'll mept Klamath Falls
in a single contest to determine
the Southern Oregon entry in
the slate nrep school tournev.
Camp time Is 2 P. M.
Both teams have turned back
all league opposition by sizable
scores. Only defeat of each club
was against Medford in exhibi
tion games.
Roseburg's Indians, mentored
by Ingram for the past three
years, began as a winning nine-
man unit 1H!5, forming the dis
trict championship Junior Ameri
can Legion club. This is their big
vear as all hut outfielders Jerry
Coen and Bill Madison leave by
graduation and Ingram takes
over coaching at Grants Pass.
The Pelicans, coached by Ed
Ryan, also will field a team of
experienced veterans of Legion
and prep school ball, having met
Roseburg last summer in a dis
trict playoff in Legion play.
Last year Roseburg defeated
the Pelicans 2 out of 3 and then

Please don't get the idea thnt we wish anybody such bad luck as
the gentleman abovo is having. Most of us in the Southern Pacific
have cars and we don't like flat tires any more than you do.
However, we believe on occasional vacation from the steering

scored 45 runs and misplayed 14
times. They had men at bat a
total of 210 times, connecting on

age of .214.

'Tackle is coming In faster
now, and those who purchase
new rods or reels should see that
they qualify for the fisherman's
particular brand of fishing.
"Don't buy a No. 3 heavy six
or seven-ounce flyrod to fish
smaller streams. If only one rod
is to be used, get a good one about
51 ounces, 8i to 9 feet long and
size 2 to 2J.
"Get a good reel one that
works properly and bearing on
'old firm's' name. And for the new
flyline, get a good double taper.
An H. D. II. is about the right
size line for such a rod."
In conclusion, the article reads:
"Oue of the most Important bits
of advice in fly casting is to keep
the backcast up. The only way to
do this is to stop the rod at the
point when it is directly vertical,
on the back-swing. Start your for
ward cast when the line has about
straightened out behind."
