ENJOYABLE MEETING

ning was a very gracious hostess
to the Past Noble Grands Ciub
members and several guests
Wednesday evening when she en
tertained with a delightful des
sert supper in the basement of
the Methodist Church. The long
linen covered table was centered
with lovely low bouquets of
spring flowers with several tall
lighted tnpers placed at intervuls
with dainty nut cups as favors.
Covers were placed for: Mrs.
Jennie Comstock, Miss Jacqueline
Frederick, Mrs. Purdy, Mrs. Har
ry Barker, Mrs. Florence Cook,
Mrs. Juanlta Holgate, Mrs. Ha
zel Green, Mrs. Nellie Peterson,
Mrs. Leona hlack, Mrs. Harriet
Stearns, Mrs. Alma Anderson,
Mrs. Mable Ross, Mrs. Maude
Culver, Mrs. Belle Cook, Mrs.
Anna Hall and the hostess, Mrs.
Manning. After every one was
seated there was small paper
with some numb rs placed upon
it, the hostess lead a few lines
and each number was supposed
to represent a letter and when
finished made the quotation,
"Eats are on the way." Miss
Frederick, won the first prize and
Mrs. Green, the second for com
pleting the line first.
After the supper numbers were I
drawn and the corresponding
numbers on the May baskets
, were passed around and a ereat
deal of pleasure was had in view
ing tho many lovely flowers ar
ranged in many different ways.
The business meeting was op
ened by singing "Blest Be The
Tie That Binds," aftr which the
vice-president, Mrs. Green pre
sided. The roll call was answered
to by quotations on curernt ev
ents. Mrs. Susie Cochram, pre
sented her resignation as presi
dent and it was voted to accept
it. Mrs. Green was then elected
as president and Mrs. Alma An
derson as vice-president, and they
were Installed in their respective
' offices.
Mrs. Anna Hankonson, of Rose
burg; Mrs. Margaret Medley of
Oakland; Mrs. Bertha Barge and
Mrs. Elaa Wegner's son, Arthur,
of Sutherlin were reported as 111,
and several members reported
that they had called on them.
The following officers were ap
pointed by the president for the
ensuing year: Mrs. Malile Ross,
musician; Mrs. Ann Hall, Marsh
all and Mrs. Maude Culver, Chap
lain. The penny prize was won
by Mrs. Hall. The meeting closed
by singing, "God Be With You
'Till We Meet Again."
ANNUAL H. E. DINNER
ENJOYED AT YONCALLA
YONCALLA The semi-annual
home economics dinner, which
members of tho home economics
class of Yoncalla High school
served twice a year to members
of the Yoncalla High school,
board, their wives and high
school faculty was held Thursday
evening at the home economics
room, with Miss Martha Lanan,
teacher in charge. The long table
was beautifully decorated in the
May-day motif. Three miniature
May poles with tiny dolls holding
the streamers was the main de
coration. Menus were In form of
a May pole. Two large bouquets
of roses added to the attractive
ness of the table. A delicious din
ner was served to Mr. and Mrs.
Miner Applegate, Mr. and Mrs.
Lawrence Radahnugh, Mr. and
Mrs. Harvey Cookeram, Mr. and
Mrs. Wilbur lirlnor, Mr. and Mrs.
Herman Miller, Mr. and Mrs.

INTERESTING MEETING
SUTJ-IERLIN The ladies of
the American Legion Auxiliary
held a very interesting meeting
Wednesday evening at the Le
gion Hall with Mrs. L. F. Gerard,
president, in charge.
After much discussion It was
voted to buy the range that Mr.
Parker had for sale and take the
monny that was made at the
dance to help pay for same.
The final nominations for offi
cers were made and election was
held with the following officers
being elected: Mrs. Maude Mur
phy, president; Mrs. Mike Nor
ton, vice-president; Mrs. Velma
Bratton, secretary - treasurer;
Mrs. Leona Slack, chaplain Mrs.
Edith Gerard, historian; Lenora
Payne, sergeant at arms; Mrs.
Lina Torrcy, Mrs. Curry and
Mrs. Frances Carriger, executive
officers.

a special piano program over
KRNR Wednesday evening at
seven-fifteen o'clock.
Sue will play the following
program: "Gavotte' and "Bour
ree by Bach; "June" by Tschal
kowsky; "Volcik" by John Mok
rojs and "Prelude In A" by
Chopin.
Sue Is an especially talented
musician and has made Dromes-
slve strides in music under the
direction of her teacher, Mrs.
Grow. She has participated in
