Grange will moot tonight at a

The Merry-Go-Round Club will
meet Wednesday at a 1:30 o'clock
dessert-luncheon at the home of
Mrs. J. Harold Nichols at Brock-way.

Patch and Chat Club to Meet
The Patch and Chat Club will
meet Wednesday evening at the
home of Mrs. E. R. Buckingham

as previously planned.

Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Kennedy. Jr.,
moved today to the residence at
the comer of South Jackson and
Brockway streets. Mrs. Kennerly
is the former Joanne Hume of
this city.
Move to New Home Mr.
and Mrs. Donald Snyder and
small daughter, Donna, have
moved from Booth street. Miller's
addition, to their new home on
the Pacific Highway, two miles
north or KosrDurg.
Back from Honeymoon Mr.
and Mrs. Robert E. Elliott have
returned from their honeymoon
and are making their home in
Roseburg. They went to Los An
geles from Eugene by plane and
returned north via automobile.
Mrs. Elliott is the former Fran
ces Moore.
Bible Classes to Meet Dr.
Morris H. Roach's men s non
denominational Bible Class will
meet Wednesday at a 12 o'clock
luncheon at the Hotel Umpqua.

Back Prom Eugene Mr. and
Mrs. H. V. Elliott, Mr. and Mrs.
D. W. Helliwell and Mr. and Mrs.
J. P. Motschenbacher have re
turned to their homes in Rose
burg, following a trip to Eugene
to attend the Lady Linns of Oak
ridge charter night affair. While
in Eugene the Elliotts were
guests of Dr. and Mis. Vern Ad
ams, former residents of Myrtle
Creek.

years to get a picture of these two fir trees joined by a natural
graft 80 or 90 feet from the ground. They stand on the south
divide of Twin Sister Creek, below Cunter. The trees are six to
eight feet apart, 30 inches in diameter." The natural graft is about
one foot in diameter. During the last 10 years, the tree on the
riaht has arjoarentlv become weaker above the graft. If ever
they were cut, they would have to be felled together.

Apprentice veterans of Rose
burg voted at their Thursday
night meeting at the courthouse
to enlarge the present employer's
council for more widespread in
terest. Presided by Veterans Coordina
tor Frank France, the council of
employers Includes George Ware,
Bob Franks and Hans Hansen.
Other business of the meeting
Included approving business firms
In Sutherlin and Myrtle Creek
for veteran-on-the-job training
through the local apprentice pro
gram. Of the 120 veteran apprentices
now working with this program
In Roseburg, France stated that
20 are disabled.
France pointed out to the group
that any veteran In this area
wanting to take college corres
pondence courses, whether in
connection with their present Job
or not, may make immediate ap
plications i.y writing to the Vet
erans Administration at Med lord,
explicitly stating their choice of
schools, the length of the
courses, and reasons for taking
the course under the G. I. Hill
of Rights.
This correspondence course
program Is being offered quite

The regular meeting of Circle
No. 2, of St. Joseph's Altai
Society was held at the home of
Mrs. J. Oiler on Riverside Drive
in Laurehvood Monday evening.
Following the business session,
Mrs. Oiler and Mi's. Chartier, co
hostesses, served refreshments
assisted by Mrs. Oilers two
charming young daughters.
Those present in addition to the

nomics Club held Its first meet
ing for 1947- Wednesday with

Rife, Ruth Wilkerson, Ellen
Mosehkan, Grace Newman, Mo
dene Brown and Ada Ames,

Work for the coming year was
discussed.
A pink and blue shower party
will be given by the club at the
next meeting in honor, of Clara
Mav Phelps, Georgette Young
and Doris Moore.
Plans were outlined for the
demonstration meeting to be
given the following day at the

The P. W. E. Club held a de
lightful potluck supper Wednes
day evening at the home of Mrs,
Nicholas Lehrbach at 416 Fowler
