New Operation to
Save "Blue Babies"

three Northwestern University
physicians.
Instead of connecting with a
less important artery, the sur
geons for the first time taDoed

abdominal aorta, which sorings
from the heart's left chamber and
gives rise to all the arteries of
the circulatory system.
Physicians said the operation
would not benefit all "blue chil
dren," who are born with crio
