Oct. 10-11, and visit relatives in
Kansas City, Mo., and Lawrence,
Kan. En route back to Oregon,
she will attend the Idaho State
Assembly Oct. 14-15. Mrs. Bailey
was accompanied east by Mrs.

Ralph L. Russell, past grand

Father Suspends Son
In Sack From Rafter
EAST CHICAGO, Ind., Sept.
13. (&) John Robinson, 44-year-old
steel worker, who, police
said, placed his naked seven-year-
old son in a burlap sacK and hung
him from a rafter in a shed, was
in jail today under a $2,000 bond
on a charge of gross cruelty.
Police said they found Robin
son's son, Eddie, after they had
received a call from Robinson's
wife, Mae, who told police she
had protested the punishment.
Police said her husband punished
his son "the way my mother used
to punish me," and he accused
the boy of having taken 25 cents
from his mother. -
Police raid the boy's head was
sticking out of the sack, which
was tied by a rope and hanging
seven feet above the floor. He
was not hurt.

ENJOYABLE MEETING
SUTHERLIN Pastel shades
of asters were used by Mrs. Mar
garet Medley and Mrs. Harriet
Stearns Wednesday evening
when ?!:y graciously entertained
the Past Noble Grand's club at a
very delightful sven-thirty
o'clock dessert-supper at the home
of Mrs. Medley in Oakland. The
lace covered table was centered
with a low arrangement of asters
flanked bv tall tapers.
Covers were placed for: Mrs.
Hazel Green, Mrs. Leona Slack,
Mrs. Ella Wegner, Mrs. Florence
Cook and the hostesses, Mi's.
Medley and Mrs. Stearns.
The business, meeting was pre
sided over by Mrs. Cook, presi
dent protem, and all business was
disposed of. Mrs. Minnie Hart
shorn was reported as no better
and the members were asked to
remember her in some way as
she is not able to receive visitors.
Visiting and games were en
joyed during the evening hours,
with Mrs. Cook winning first and
Mrs. Slack second In the guess
ing game, to see who could re
member the most states in the
United States; Mrs. Green, first
and Mrs. Wegner, second in the
scrambled word contest. Mrs.
Slack won the penny prize of the
evening which was furnished by
Mrs. Juanita Holgate.
CALAPOOIA SADDLE
CLUB IS ORGANIZED

club which was organized Friday
evening. The new club will be
called the Calapooia Saddle Club.

vote, and Kathryne Finch, secretary-treasurer.

Meetings will be held every
Friday evening at 8 o'clock at
the Yoncalla Feed store. First
riding date will be held at 9:30
Sunday, Sept. 15, with members
meeting at the pole yards on
main highway in Yoncalla. From
there the group will ride to a
large field nearby to practice its
drill work.

who is making her official visit

were appointed and a potluck
lunch will be served after the

tees and following the business
session, refreshments were serv
ed. It was announced that the
County Home Demonstration
Agent, Wanda Thoreson, will
give a demonstration on frozen
foods at a meeting Monday, Sep
tember 16, at two o'clock at the
grange hall. All women of the
Garden Valley, Edenbower and
Riversdale communities are urg
ed to attend. Miss Thoreson will
also outline future demonstration
sessions at the meeting.
The next grange meeting will
be held at a six-thirty o'clock
dinner at the hall September 20,
at which time members having
birthdays in the last three
months will be guests of honor.

Dairy Industry Warned
Rising costs of butter and
cheese brought a notice from the
Price Decontrol Board today that
it may clamp ceilings back on all
dairy products.
The board called upon the dairy
industry, the public and "anyone
else" to submit written evidence
bearing on the subject by next
Wedensday.
A board spokesman said this
amounts to an order to "show
cause" why the panel should not
reverse its decision of less than
a month ago, when it ruled that
