COUNTRY CLUB LADIES
TO MEET WEDNESDAY
The ladies of the Roseburg
Country Club will meet Wednes
day for regular tournament golf
play, instead of Thursday, on ac
count of the Fourth of July holi
day. The championship golf
tournament play wil be resumed
next week.
The ladles will tee off Wednes
day morning at 8:30 o'clock.
Luncheon will be served by Mr.
Simmons at 12:30 and the bridge
play will begin at 1:30 o'clock.
Mrs. J. F. Dillard, captain, urges
all ladles of the club to be pres
ent. For the Fourth of July holiday,
a mixed tournament has been
arranged for all members of the
club to be held at three o'clock
at the clubcourse under the di
rection of the pro.. Art Pearson.
The tournament will be followed
by a 5:30 o'clock potluck supper

A family reunion, was held Sun
day, June 15, at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Sehulze of Look
in"'lass. A buffet dinner was served at
noon, after which a grou- pic
ture was taken that included Mr.
and Mrs. Herman Sehulze, their
ten children and families which
made a total of 44. Also kodak
and moving pictures were taken
during the afternoon.

We have had an ancient human
interest story, a leading citi
zen a rich man, engaged the
Master Teacher in earnest con
versation. Those who stood
nearby were hopeful that a
new convert of many interest
ing possibilities was about to
be won. Perhaps Jesus was
not so optimistic as were some
of the disciples. He understood
the dangers when anyone be
comes too much interested in
monev. Doubtless this young
ruler had been carefully reared
oy devout parents. He had
been Instructed in the princi
ples of religious education.
There had been developed
within him a reverent attitude
for the deeper things of the
spirit but he loved money.
What a pity that money got in
the way and blurred even his
vision of the Christ. How trag
ic was the loss of such a fol
lower. Jesus could have used
him but for this one funda
mental spiritual defect. In our
day also there are marvelous
possibilities for the divine hu
man partnership, built upon
the dedication of human re
sources to divine direction.
Jesus desires the discipleship
of those who will trust Him
with the direction of their mo
tives, interests and ambitions.
