Unkept Promise '
On Feed Branded
"Cheap Politics"

W. Wilson, manager of the Pa
cific Northwest Feed Association,
yesterday accused Agriculture
Secretary Anderson and his de
partment o "playing cheap poll
tics" in the current livestock and
poultry feed shortages in the Pa
cific Northwest.

relief when he knows it Is not

Beitzel was due In Washington,
D. C, today for appointments
with President Truman and Sec
retary Anderson, arranged by the
American Legion. Beitzel had in
formed Wilson he obtained a GI
loan with which to enter the
poultry business but has had to
dispose of his flock for lack of
feed. Wilson said Beitzel has lost
all his savings and must repay
his loan. He has a wife and two
children.
No Shipments Readied

loads nor the hominy and they
didn't know where they could get

them for any grain that could be
collected in that area.
He said that as of May 12,
there was an urgent need for
3,000,000 bushels ol feed out mat
only 50.000 bushels have been
supplied this area since April 11.

didn't you tell me it would be
like this?" the 8lh Army has
prepared a booklet of "General
Information for Dependents of
Military Personnel Planning to
Come to Japan,"
It sums up by saying:
"Dependents will be well fed,
well housed and comfortable.
They will have electricity, mod
ern nlumbine. telephones, radios
and modern transportation. They
will have excellent medical care
and many means of recreation.
"They will be guarded by the
United States Army, and there is
little to fear from the Japanese,
who are a subservient, beaten
people.
"On the other hand, life will be
relatively simple. There will be
no corner drug or grocery stores,
no department stores or filling
stations."
Few Beauty Parlors
But there will be scenery, "sec
ond to none" in beauty. And there
will be a place to call "home."
Women are advised that there
are a few beauty parlors in Japan
now and that there will be more.
Dry cleaning and laundry facili
ties will be available. Those com
ing to Japan before September
should bring three months' sup-
fily of toilet articles, and if there
s an infant in the family, three
months' supply of baby food and
"baby needs." After September,
one month's supply will be suf-
tielent.
Storage Eggs Available
Fresh frozen meat, vegetables.
canned goods, soap and mops can
be purchased at the commissaries.
Powdered or canned milk must
be used. There will be storage
eggs.
