The pleasant afternoon hours
were spent in vistlng and play

'45, and Is well known in this
community. She has been em
ployed in Los Angeles for the
past six months.

men's Study Club in the Fpworth
Hall of the Methodist Church,
Thursday afternoon. A very Inter,
eating program was given. The
meeting opened singing "America
the Beautiful." Mrs. Earl Strong
had charge of the lesson. Mrs.
Fred Merk gave a very line re
view of the "Life of Margaret
O'Brien," followed by a fine book
review by Mrs. E. G. Young of
Oakland on "Public Opinion, by
Waiter Lipman. Mrs. Houser read
a very line poem, "A Friend's
Greeting," by Edgar Guest. Mrs.
llernice Mideke had charge of the
devotions.

Milk Demand Price Boost

ll'i In a plea for higher prices
on Grado A milk, the increased
cost of production was poinled
out in a petition submitted to
OPA this week by the Josephine
County Grade A Producers and
Distributors.
Now allowed a ceiling of 85
cents, the petition cites present
costs of materials and services
necessary to produce Grade A
milk in showing that cost of pro
duction has risen to $1.21 per
pound of butterfat.

Hirohito's White
Horse Will Be
Brought to U. S.
TOKYO, Dec. 13 (JP) The
most controversial horse in Japan
White Frost, described by the
Army as Emperor Hirohito's own
mount is going to the United
States as the property of an
American lieutenant.
The Japanese Racing Associa
tion today ceremoniously turned
over the much publicized white
Arabian to Lieut. Dick Ryan, who
discovered him five weeks ago In
isolated but elaborate stables.
A change in Armv regulations
will make it possible for the
liuetenant to take White Frost to
the States where he plans to
exhibit the horse at veterans'
hospitals, civil and charitable
events.
If nothing goes amiss, White
Frost will go aboard an American
Liberty ship at Yokohama within
a few davs when Ryan starts
home for discharge. Frost will be
carried on deck and will not
occupy any space In which a sol
dier might be transported, Ryan
said.
Some Japanese sources deny
that White Frost is the horse on
which Hlrohito wa seen astride
in so many prewar pictures.
Others sav he was too high-strung
to be ridden bv the emperor in
review, was given to another
member of the royal familv and
linally placed in the association
stables. But most sources agree
lie did come from the royal
stables ridden or unridden by
Hirohito.
