farm this week. The girls cooked
their meals over the campflre and
enjoyed swimming ns a diversion
with several members receiving

cil Fire to be held Friday evening,
July 27, at the Forks of the river,
following a seven o'clock picnic
supper. Families and friends of
the members are Invited. Eight

the Council Fire.

Although the' hostesses re
ported the affair to be both early
and small, it was a complete
surprise to Miss Buick, who re
ported that she saw nothing of
any preparation of any klncf for

gratulations and bringing an ar
tistically wrapped package, her
flushed cheeks and lovely smile
showed her astonished happiness.
The gifts were reported as sweet
in themselves as the thoughts,
which prompted them and
ranged from great fragrant cer

fine stationery through many
useful articles down to a heav
enly blue hug-me-tlght. This last

ROSEBURG WOMAN'S CLUB
HAS WORK MEETING AT
CLUBHOUSE ON TUESDAY
Members and friends of the
Roseburg Woman's club met at
the clubhouse Tuesday afternoon
to do Red Cross sewing and work
on scrapbooks for the men in the
armed services.
The club will hold its next Red
Cross sewing meeting at the Red
Cross rooms Auugst 7 from one
to four o'clock. Mrs. Armour
Murdock Is sewing chairman and
Mrs. Randolph Flagg has charge
of making the scrapbooks.
Mrs. A. J. Goddes, club presi
dent, reports that all friends of
the club, as well as the members,
arc Invited to assist at the two
work-meetings held by the club
during the summer months.
